If it sounds like it is turning over real fast and is a strange higher pitch sound then it normally is when it turns over. I hate to say it but you may have lost your timing belt. I can give you some good news however if it is the timing belt and if I am correct you have a 2.0 liter DOHC engine in that and it is a non-interference engine meaning there most likely isn't any damage done. I hope this is not the case for your sake and is something easier but that's what it kind of sounds like the way you have explained it. Good luck.

If the engine is turning over much faster than usual when you try to start it, you may have a stripped timing gear or broken timing chain/belt.

If it is not turning over at all, the starter motor is not engaging the flywheel.

88sedandeville, something snapped in transaxle or rh axle, just makes strange whirring grind noise. Is it drive chain or axle? Should I just get another trans?

make sure the axle joint didn't fail then on the pass side of the car behind the axle there is a cover that houses the differential open that and check the gears in there

My 2003 Toyota RAV stalls without notice. I have to let the car sit for about 30 minutes and then it restarts. There is no cranking problem, the battery seems fine. Thank you for your help.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
You may have a bad coil pack. If the coil pack is faulty the car tends to stall and starts up when cooled down. You can start on replacing the coil pack as a first course of action.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I own a 2002 Toyota Rav 4 - 5 speed, when I purchased it I had a remote car starter installed and it worked great until now. If I use my car starter and I stall my car out it will not start again for about...

You either have a bad remote starter, or the remote starter has caused the body computer to fail. Remove the remote starter completely from the car. See if the car starts normally. If not, the body computer has failed. This is a very expensive item, and have been found to malfunction due to remote starter electrical failures.
