Sparkplug gap for bmw 316i 1998

Stock replacement Bosch or NGK plugs are pregapped so they don't need to be gapped. Gaps are usually .035 if its a single electrode...Where you buy your pluge can tell you for sure.

What kind of spark plugs do i need

You should be fine using a platinum plug. You can purchase from any auto parts store. Without the engine type I can't give you specfic pricing but on average they should be about 3-6 dollars each. There is no need for double platinum or irridium plugs on your vehicle.

Can some one please tell me if there is a certain spark plug that needs to be put in my 2000 beetle 2.0 motor or will any work.

You need to use an NGK 7092 Spark plug or equivalent. Note this is a NAPA part number & may not work everywhere.
So to answer your question, No you can't use just any plug.

2005 Hyundai elantra sputters - not all the time - no computer codes - garage replaced spark plugs - then purge valve - same problem. it basically hicups.

ask what spark plugs they put in your car. bosch platinums and other aftermarket plugs will give you these symptons. stick to the ngk or champions that came stock
