One issue is using octane higher than recommended. Remember, the car has to not polute, when starting, and there is a danger about turning on the fuel pump, so some manufacturers do more "thinking" during start up, before they allow for the engine to come to life. Some designs need oil pressure to be up for timing chains to be tensioned....
