Make sure there is only one gasket on the oil filter. Make sure it is not split in any way. Replace it if it is. If the oil filter housing itself is leaking remove the oil filter and there is a bolt right there on the oil filter housing. Just tighten it up. These come loose from time to time. Make sure the hose going to the oil filter housing are on tight an not leaking as well. They handle a lot of pressure.

There are two hoses to check on the oil filter housing.

the engine oil cooler lines are a common problem and they plug into the oil filter adaptor above the oil filter via quick connect fittings,as for your brake light check your ground wire first.

Oil leak above oil filter . Ther is a adapter. on a 1995 chvey 5.7 motor

There is a rubber o-ring between the oil filter adaptor and the engine block that needs replacement.
Disconnect the two oil cooler lines from the adaptor. remove oil filter. Two torx head bolts mount the adaptor to the block. rmove these and replace o-ring. Assemble in the reverse order of removal.

Check the oil filter adaptor bracket. My 1993 Safari had the same problem, and the adaptor bracket and seal were bad. Replacement fixed the leak.
