Hi,
This Fault code indicates that there is a open circuit or short to ground on the main power circuit between the Transmission control Module and the main ECM. 1. Check the wiring between the transmission and the Transmission control Module. 2. Check the wiring between the Main ECM to the TCM.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Jason

98 passat code # p1565 p0123 p1425 p1472 now the car will turn over but will not start. Throttle body and fuel pump are new. I have a repair manual. I do not know what the codes are telling me to fix....

1998 passat these codes are generic platform 1565 speed control command switch is out of range
P0123 Throttle position sensor/switch"A" high input
P01425 EGI glow plug secondary failure
P01472 Electro drive fan 2 operational failure

P0123 for this it means TPS is basically diconnected, and po1425 glow plug secondary failure, Why all these codes if you attempt to start the vehicle and you disconnected the Throttle body then disregard code po123 po1565 that speed control you probable stalled out and if so disregard this code. Here is what I am trying to communicate to you clear the codes.theses are not true code of the condition of the vehicle. They cannot contridict each other. If you believe these are true then trouble shoot po1425 and make sure the TPS has no broken connection and is fully seated look in the male to female connection and the harness. concentrate only on 1425 that is the reson it wont start.

Transmision on a 2002 passat wagon with a 5 speed ans 1.8 l.

location of the filler being at the back of the transmission.
It is just a small little thing that you cant hardly see or reach. 17 mm one is the fill one. It is just like a bolt on the side of the transmission. You have to pump fluid in.
The reason for this is that VW has a policy, or believes in their oil lasting the lifetime of the car. Most people are finding that this is not the case.

I have a 2002 Passat wagon, with a1.8 l engine and a 5 speed automatic transmision. By mistake I drained the transmision. |How do do I refill the transmision so that I can take it to a shop to top it up...

Find the transmission filler tube under the hood. Get a funnel, and fill. Do not overfill, and use proper tranny fluid for your cars' specifications. Your user manual should have a capacities index, and the type of trans. fluid to use listed somewhere in the manual. Hope this helps.

The automatic transmision retards the second speed

Check the vacuum modulator line. It may have a leak. Costs 95cents to replace the line. Just had a similar problem and car works fine now.

How do i top up the transmition

the passat has no dip stick so no way to fill from there VW says transmision never needs fluid , however there is a plug on side of transmision [passanger side] that you can access fluid remove plug check level with finger should be at tip and add from there , very difficult.

When driving at 40 and accelarate the revs go up quickly but the speed hardly changes

you indicate you may have a slipping transmision, check fluid levels , check for dirty transfluid that smell of dirty dishwater or burnt smell, sounds like it is a trans problem for sure, anytime the revs go up and vehicle speed does not change then it points to a trans problem...could be torque converter and or bad worn clutches in trans or even low trans fluid pressures...

Passat 98 1.8t transmission or something else??

Okay, put every thing back the way it was before you had these wires burning, Pull off those wires you added. Check your circuit breakers and fuses. You may have melted a wire somewhere, but we'll hope it's just a breaker. If not, then you can look for a melted wire. You have shorted something out.
