Brake light switch replacement brake lights stay on in 1990 toyota corolla

IF YOU ARE SAYING THAT YOU HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH AND NOW THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON THEN THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU DID NOT SCREW THE BRAKE SWITCH IN FAR ENOUGH.IT HAS A BUTTON ON THE TIP OF THE SWITCH AND IF THAT BUTTON DOES NOT REST ON THE BRAKE PEDAL,YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON.WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BUTTON POPS OUT OF THE SWITCH WHICH MAKES THE LIGHTS TURN ON.WHEN YOU RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL,IT GOES BACK UP AND PUSHES THE BUTTON BACK IN WHICH MAKES THE LIGHTS GO OFF.ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR ELECTIRCAL PLUG IS CONNECTED SECURELY AND ALL THE WAY PLUGGED IN.I HOPE THIS INFO HELPS, TAKE CARE AND GOOD LUCK, MANNY

the switch will be under the dash just above your brake pedal.. it's should look like a rectangle with cylindrical ends that can be pushed in and out.

Its telling you a brake light bulb is burnt out.

If you find that all the rear brake bulbs are working...the problem is the sensor, located in the trunk, left side, behind the left side plastic wall (Removeable). It is a 2 X 2 cream colored box. Dealer only part. $80-$100 each. Have known 6 other Camry's to have a bad sensor box. Common problem.

My brake lights won't turn off on my 1989 Toyota Corolla, how can I fix this problem without going to a mechanic?

look for the brake light switch, it is located under your dash board, beside the brake pedal pivot, or at the end of your brake pedal arm. it is a round metal object with two wire connector sticking out. you may either adjust the nut enough for the pedal to turn off the switch, or if it is grounded. replace the brake light switch.
