2005 chevy silverado 1500. Just on first start or if sits for a few hours engine will bog down. When using auto start takes a few tries

Possible fuel pump issue causing fuel to drain back into the tank. Check valve inside pump may be bad. Once vehicle is turned on it may take a few seconds to prime up the fuel lines until operating pressure is reached. Put a pressure guage on the fuel rail and start the vehicle. Should be approx 55-60lbs running. Turn off vehicle and leave it sit with guage attached and monitor for pressure dropping off to 0. If so, suspect a bad pump

WHEN LEFT FOR AN HOUR MY 2010 SPRINTER TAKES A LOT OF CRANKING BEFORE IT STARTS. WHEN IT HAS BEEN RUNNING THERES NO PROBLEM UNTIL I LEAVE IT FOR AN HOUR IT WONT START AGAIN SOMENE SAID IT COULD BE THE FUEL...

I've had the same problem with my truck. It's not unusual for one to have to re-prime the fuel pump. just turn the key on, let it sit for a second, and when you no longer hear the fuel pump priming fuel (sounds like a whining noise before you start the engine), crank it up.

possably bad gas? to know if it is fuel related try starting it on propane
unscrew the end of a soldering torch and replace it with a 3 foot hose
stick it in the air filter or any air intake have someone start the car while you turn on the propane dont leave it on or give the car to much just till you see if it starts if it starts its fuel related

Car won't stay running after sits overnight and runs good after you do get it started

In the morning, turn key to on position for 5 seconds. Do not crank. Then turn off for 5 seconds. Repeat this about 5 times. Then try to start. If engine starts right up, the fuel pump check valve is bad. Meaning all fuel in fuel line is returning to the tank when car sits overnight. The only fix is to replace fuel pump. If that doesn't work, replace coolant temp. sensor for the computer. About a 12.00 part.
