Question about Honda Civic

2 Answers

I have a 2002 Honda civic. I have bought 2 new alternators and 2 new batteries but after a couple weeks of running, the care will not start. I keep getting a run around about checking the alternator. I want to have it bench checked but they say it needs to be in the car to check it.. Any ideas about what the problem could be. I have checked the termminals to tbe battery.

Auto Zone will check alternators off the car. check wires at alternator should have one larg wire that is hot all the time, should be smaller wire that turns off and on with ign switch and of course you have wires that go to gauge and might have some field wires but check the two wires i first mentioned and see if there hot. Check fuses

Your alternator CAN be bench tested any Autozone store can do it. Many parts stores do it and FREE, they can "load test" your battery also - FREE. You just have to pull the parts and bring them in.

Check the charging relay if working. You can find it in the fuse box which is either in the engine compartment or under the dashboard on the drivers side legroom.

I HAVE A 2002 HONDA CIVIC, WILL START BUT WON'T STAY RUNNING, HAS NO FAULT CODES WHEN HOOKED TO DIANOGISTICS

ok -
Have you checked your fuel source: How old is the fuel in it now - is there a chance of water being in there? How about your Fuel pump/pressure? - Fuel filter? How about the gas cap - is it vented or creating a vacume?

Alternatively how long does it stay running - till it heats up? only a couple of minutes??

the wiring harness rubs in half. trace the wires from the alternator back. Under the intake manifold about middle ways you should find the broken wire.

Among the connection on the alternator ,this is a short circuit in between the wire that why it keeps blowing the fuse, you need to verify the wire's connection

I have a brand new battery in my 2000 Honda Civic & the car will not start now. The battery was installed 2 days ago & the car started just fine & ran fine, but then I didn't drive it for 2...

Check the function of the alternator. Charge the battery with a battery charger or jump start the engine. While the engine is running use a voltmeter to check the voltage at the battery posts. Red to + and black to -. You should have between 13.5 − 16 volts. If you do not the alternator is bad or the drive belt is loose. If the alternator checks ok then something is on that is drawing power from the battery and running it down. Check under hood, trunk, glove box, and interior lights. Can also be a brake light switch causing the brake lights to stay on. In rare cases it can also be a stuck relay such as a power window relay. From you description I think you will find the alternator is ok and your problem is something is on and running the battery down.

2003 Honda Accord. Dies when I try to put it in drive

you are having a problem with your alternator. the battery has a main purpose to start the vehicle, keep computer memory, and give power to electrical components when the key is in the on position. the alternator charges the battery and gives power to electrical components when the vehicle is running. now when you hit the brakes there was an extra load added to the alternator and if the car died then the alternator is running very weak and needs to be relace.
