I have toyota sienna 2002 . ABS warning is coming on and off while driving. I checked with the local mechanic. He changed the wheel air pressure censor and changed the connecting wires too. but still the warning comes on and off. I have spent around 500$ already on this. Still same problem.

The wheel air pressure sensor only records the air pressure, the speed sensor or as its sometimes called abs sensor sends the signal that abs is engaged. When they malfunction it can send a false signal that the wheel is sliding or going slower than the other wheels which can engage the abs system or cause the abs light to eluminate. Have your mech check the speed sensors and abs system.

How to reset check engine light warning

normally to reset a check engine light all you have to do is unhook the battery for a couple of minutes and then hook it back up. if you are having a sensor problem though this check engine light will come back on after you drive the vehicle for more than 3 minutes.

2001 toyota sienna changed drive shaft & ABS lights on now

Sounds like the ABS sensor is not hooked up.
The sensor is behind the brake rotor attached to the spindle where the axle shaft sticks thru.
You might want to have the computer scanned for codes to make sure the light is on for the same wheel the axle was removed from.

Where is the speed sensor on a 1998 toyota sienna

The 1998 Sienna has one speed sensor in each tire (ABS sensors.) These sensors are used by the ABS system, but also to calculate the vehicle speed and for the tire air pressure monitor. If you are getting a P0500 code and your speedometer does not work, your problem could be a faulty speedometer. If one of the speed sensors were bad, the low tire air pressure light would come on. I changed rims and tires on my 2008 toyota sienna and tire pressure warn ing light came on followed by abs, traction control, and check engne, lights. what could cause this to happen? does anybody know how...

Sounds like they did not swap over your tire pressure monitoring sensors. They probably just used regular rubber valve stems. I would call and ask whoever put them on.

The antilock breaks on my 2001 toyota sienna come on even when making normal stops on flat dry roads. what is causing this ?

For some reason the ABS module believes one of your four tires is locked up and skidding.
Do you have any warning lights that are coming on? I would suggest you take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and ask them to scan the vehicle for trouble codes. Write the codes down and respond back to this reply and we can get started diagnosing.
Chances are you have a wheel speed sensor that is registering "0" mph when the brake is applied, that is usually the most common problem with your type of ABS activation.
Good luck, let me know when you have the codes.

Brake indicator lamb

My Chiltons manual for the toyota seinna 1998-2002 it says that with the lite always on means ecu malfunction and the action to take is ' ecu problem '. Sometimes these manuals leave a lot to be desired.

there appears to be a speed sensor on every wheel with the abs actuator assembly(including ecu) is attached to the brake booster.

the manual says. . . .The ABS computer(ECU) is mounted within the ABS actuator and is the ' brain' for the ABS system. The function of the computer is to accept and process information recieved from the wheel speed sensors to control the hydraulic line pressure, avoiding wheel lock up. The computer aslo constantly monitores the system, even under normal driving conditions, to find faults within the system.
If a problem develops within the system, an "ABS" light will glow on the dashboard. A diagnostic cod will also be stored in the computer and, when retrieved, will indicate problem area or component.

I hope this helps

What does it mean when you reset the low tire sensor on a 2002 toyota Sienna and comes back on? The tire pressure has been checked and its fine.

You have to "Teach" the tire sensors to the correct pressure. The 02 Sienna does not measure the actual PSI tire pressures, it measures the RPM of the tires. with the tires set to specs, the rotation RPM is "x". If a tire goes low, the rotation RPM would bt "y", and that will light the light.

The proceedure: Set the tires to specs with a known good pressure gauge. The ones that you can put in your pocket, that looks like a pen, are alway sincorrect. Get one with a needle reading. Set the tires correctly. Now, press the reset button, hold it until the light blinks 3 times. Drop it into gear, and DRIVE IT. 8-12 miles, above 19 MPH, and UNDER 61 MPH. This will re-teach the ABS computer the correct values.

If it's the ABS module, contact www.modulemaster.com and have them rebuild it - it's far cheaper (a couple hundred bucks) and they do a great job.
