Changed ignition switch now security light stays on and truck starts and kills

You need to relearn the passlock system (security). There are 2 ways. One is with a scanner, which most diy'er wont own an expensive one to do it this way, here is the manual way. Start the truck and let it run until it dies. The security light should then be flashing. Leave the key in the run position until the security light stops flashing (about 10-15mins). After the light stops flashing turn the key off. Try to start the truck again. It should do the same thing (run for a few seconds and then die with the security light flashing). Again wait for 10-15 mins for the light to stop flashing and then turn the key off and repeat the process one last time. That's a total of 3 times. Once you finish the process the 3rd time. Let the truck sit for a minute with the key off. It should now be programmed and start and run normally.

I have a 2004 toyota solara, it is getting fuel, but it is only firing for a split second, it has a new ignition key, and the security light is not on. It runs great for like 1 second, then it dies. W

The new ignition key needs to be programmed to work with the immobilizer system, right now the computer is not recognizing the key because it is not programmed, you'll need to get the dealer involved to do this .

1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Factory Imobilizer (Starts and runs for a few seconds, then dies.)

You must know the resistance value of the old key to make this work, without that info you can't get a new key cut, the resistor was the chip at the base of the key shank. So you are kinda stuck here, the only thing to do is find out if you can buy the VATS module out of the truck the column came from, you module needs to see a proper key resistance signal a certain resistance which was of course the one you lost. Only had one key to the truck?? wow that was a mistake. I lost a key once but luckily it had no anti theft system and a new lock fixed it, after that I have three keys for each of my 4 cars.

Code P1632 on a 2002 Saturn how to reset

this is a anti-theft code....

try unlocking the door on the driver's side with the factory key. hold it towards the unlock for a moment or two...

it is also important that you not be using the valet key and that it is a normal factory key...

also try the key fob with the same process if the key fails...

good luck

Yes it sounds like a security system problem. Does the new column have pass key? You are leaving the key on until the security light stops flashing? The light is flashing for 10 minutes?

Installed a new ingintion switch know security light flashes and car will not start

this process will take about half an hour to doyou might want to put a battery charger on it on the low setting because if the battery dies in process u have to start over.first thing is try to start car,it might start then stall, when that happens leave the key in the on position and the security light will be flashing and it will keep doin it for 10 minutes, then it will stay on solid, when it does that turn the key off for 2 seconds then turn it to the on position anfd the light will be flashing agian for 10 minutes, then it will be on solid, then turn the key off for 2 seconds and then back on and 10 minutes later when it stops flashing this time u should be able to start it and the light should be off, hope this helps

96' sunfire changed engines 2.2 starts dies theft light comes on

The problem is the new PCM you installed does not have the correct VIN number of your car.
You may be able to relearn the VIN using the preceedure below, however, there is no gaurentee it will work. You may have to have a dealer reset the VIN for you by way of a scan tool.

1) Instert key into ignition and rotate to run position (do not try to start engine)
2) Leave the key in the run position for 10 minutes until security light stops flashing.
3) Turn ignition key to off position for 10 seconds ( no more, no less)
4) Turn ignition to run position again for 10 minutes until security light stops flashing and repeat step 3 and 4 for (1) more cycle.

The process is a security verification step for the VTD system. ( Vehicle Theft Deterent)

Give it a try, let me know.
