Sounds like your rack and pinion assembly is failing. This is the blood and guts of your steering. Have your mechanic check out the rack and pinion to make sure it is operating properly. Even if you vehicle is relatively new there might have been some sort of failure in it from the manufacturer. If it is an older vehicle it would be a good idea to have it checked anyway.

Water pump replaced and still makes a roring sound

yes - take a rubber hose with one end against you ear and listen around the motor while it running to help pinpoint where noise is coming from-keep in mind the hose is so yu wont get yourself close to any moving parts. ps-if its the power stearing pump the sound will change as you move the steering wheel

My engine light just came on this morning but I am having a very hard time turning the steering wheel and it is making a strange sound when I try to turn the wheel.

Hi hope I can help.
First check the power steering pump fluid.
Also check your belt to the power steering. make sure it is not slipping.
After checking both of these and you still have a problem .
you will have to replace your power steering pump.
Hope this helps FixYa

Power steeringts been making like wining noise for the past couple of weeks but 2 days it started to make like a knocking sound

First check the fluid level.Add fluid if needed. If the sound goes away you have to look for a fluid leak.If the level is ok the pump needs replacing or to be rebuilt. The power steering hoses do have a problem with leaking with vehicles around this age.All the Jeep models do.For a shop it is not a big job to r&r a pump.Hope this helps

When turning my 1995 jeep grand cherokee orvis the steering wheel has a wineing noise turning it from right to left. Also there is a wineing noise by the belts behind the radiator. I have a leak in the...

This is most likely the power steering pump that you hear. Check the fluid level to be sure it is full. If the fluid is full then the pump is going out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

1991 lexus ls400 power steeing slowly got hard to

As mentioned check ps fluid. If it wines when turning and still no power then the pump is internally bad.. If the fluid is dissapearing fast then its a hose or most likely a leaking rack& pinion assembly..

Wine in power steering, I put in new fan belt, power steering pump, new rack

The wine will be there until the fluid bleeds out all the air.If it does not, then have the power steering pump replaced again, and be sure to flush the system with a good power steering flush. But the remanufatured pump is most likely the problem. The pump had a flaw that the rebuilder didn`t see.Do make sure the lines are not kinked anywhere.
