Battery light comes on while driving. Immediately after water pump/timing belt replacement. Replaced battery and alternator tests good. Intermittent battery light remains?

It sounds as though the belt may be slipping or is not tight enough?

If it's a toothed belt it won't slip - it may not be tensioned enough where it goes around the alternator pulley. They are adjustable.

A smooth non-toothed belt can slip.

Also, check the tightness of the battery leads where they connect to the battery and to the earth - on the bodywork/engine block

Timing belt

You don't have the tension right. Belt should be tight when tensioned, tight enough that it can't slip. I'm not familiar with this engine, but you need to find the belt tightening procedure.
Go to, register for free, giving make, model, year, and engine size. When registered, look under "repair guides" for timing belt R&R procedure.

Belts normally squeal when they slip and they slip because they're not tight enough or in the case of a V belt because they're too narrow. Make sure they're tight enough and they're the right belt.

Slight squeeky noise when I turn the steering wheel and a little more stiff to turn.

Hi the steering pump uses a belt to drive it, when this gets stretched it will slip, oil can also get on the belt causing it to slip, so check the belt, make sure it is tight and free from oil, also make sure the power pump reservoir has oil at the same time

Loud squeeking come from the belt, the belt is good 2006 escalade

if the belt is squeeking its on its last legs, change it soon before it brakes, check that its tight and not slipping if its been slipping it will still need to be changed, but as a get you home,,, put some talc powerder on the belt that shuts them up for a time

Timing belt on 1996 mazda protege slips during startup

Hello, this to me sounds like your fan belt slipping (not timing belt). To adjust the fan belt you need to undo your bolt on the alternator, pull it tight onto the fan belt and while holding it tight do the bolt back up tightly. this will stop yoour fan belt from slipping. I hope this helps.

Loud squealin from power steering belt

Check the tension of the power steering belt.
It is probably loose and slipping - belts can stretch during their initial run in period.

Altinator belt

The belt, most likely is shot...just get it replaced. Your car comes equipped with a "tensioner" pulley that keeps the belt tight all the time. Unless you have mechanical experience, I really do NOT recommend trying this job at home...Just DON'T GO TO THE DEALERSHIP!

Make sure the tensioner is tight to the specifications and in propper place.
You may need to Replace Your Timing Belt if you don't fix it putting it in tension.
Timing belt slipping off can badly damage valves, causing a damage that requires an expensive repair, do not circulate if timing belt is not OK, see :Cost estimate for valve job after timing belt slip
