Question about Chevrolet Malibu
Sounds like either you haven`t changed the oil in a long time or the motor is not running smooth,if the motor is not running smooth then it may need a tune-up.if the motor is running smooth then you may have a fuel injector that is dirty and allowing too much fuel into the combustion chamber and its not being completely burned of the injector is not closing all the way when it should be.another thing that can cause too much fuel is if the computer thinks the motor is to cold allowing more fuel.this can be caused by a low coolant level in the system,a bad thermostat not allowing the motor to get to proper operating temperature,a bad coolant temperature sensor(this usually sets a code and the check engine light comes on).
