The continue use of starting fluid will damage your engine. It sounds like your fuel pump is getting weak and is in need of replacing..

What would make a 1988 2.5L celebrity crank an run some time but other times have to spray starter fluid in injection to start

Having to spray starter fluid is an indication of lack of fuel. Possible restricted fuel filter or fuel pump getting bad. If the problem occurs in the AM when vehicle is cold and is started for the first time, there may be an issue with the coolant temp sensor providing inaccurate information to the computer. Have the computer scanned and monitor operating parameters of the sensors to help isolate the cause of the problem

1996 Chevy Astro V6 67K wont start when cold, needs engine starter fluid, ok when warmed up. Runs smooth. What is wrong?

I would say that the choke sensor (or whatever it is called) went bad & isn't telling the computer that it's cold & requires more fuel. Instead of starter fluid, did you try to push the foot feed 1 or 2 times?

1992 gmc jimmy wont start unless i spray with starting fluid after it starts it will start every time untill the next day then i have to spray again ?

Fuel pump issue.--

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Where do I spray the starter fluidin a 96 dodge caravan

The starter fluid needs to be sprayed on the throttle body. This is done for testing the car with starter fluid. If it runs by spraying starter fluid, then most probably the fuel pump is the problem.
If you notice no start problem on your car/.Then there are many other possibilities too. No start problem. This is many a times caused by weak battery or faulty battery, or can be possible that battery to starter connection is loose or faulty starter itself.First the battery to start and both battery and starter voltage needs to be checked and confirmed. If that is checked ok, then other possibilities like faulty spark plugs, faulty fuel pump etc etc needs to be checked. Car was working fine today and then when ready to go home from work, it started to turn over, but acted like it was not getting fuel, or was flooded or no spark..Is there an inline fuel filter that might...

IF THE CAR FEEL LIKE IT goes to start and does not. problem is the starter switch.
you can check if the coil spark plug wire is connected ok/
try using a spray fluid starter use it on intake air in at the some time you try to start . if it start and turns off the problem is the fuel pump

FUEL PUMP MAYBE? is it common?

yes it is very likely it is a fuel pump sticking, to verify this buy a can of spray starter fluid, next time it won't start spray the starter fluid into theintake air hose on the engine, if it starts and then quickly shuts down u need a fuel pump, also replace the filter.

Hard starting or will not start every time

With the vehicle turned off: spray some starter fluid into your intake. You'll have to take off the hose from your air filter assembly to do this. After you spray some starter fluid reinstall the hose to your intake. And try to start your vehicle. If it starts every time you do this and runs without issues. Then you could have a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump is going out.
