I have the same problem with my 1999 Dodge Durango and it has been going on for about 2 yrs and it is now getting to the point it may take you 30 minutes before it starts.

My symptoms seem related to other problems...(1) sometimes it clicks when starting is like it's a bad battery, (2) sometimes it starts like an old engine when you have to help it with some gas, (3) sometimes there is nothing : no click, no crankover, nothing, and of course, (4) sometimes it starts up like it's a brand new car?!?

I've taken it to 2 different auto parts places who have done battery & starter testing, and there is no problems. Battery voltage is good, alternator is good, and starter is good?!?

Specifically the battery V = 12.64 and 12.54, rated CCA = 770, measured CCA = 805 and 796, avergage volts during starting = 11.37, crank time = 1.86 and 0.812 sec, charging system (no load) = 13.74 and 13.90, charging system (under load) = 13.75 and 13.77, with ripple normal on both.

I"m about to pull the starter and alternator and takes those for bench testing at the same auto parts stores, so we'll see how that goes?!?

Sometimes it starts good and sometimes won't start

If starter doesn't spin everytime. Clean battery terminals and a connection. Check connection at starter. Try putting into neutral to start. If starter still doesn't turn car over everytime. Probably starter solenoid. If starter spins every time and doesn't start check temperature sensor. My car once started only when sitting for a couple of hours. Because sensor was saying it was really cold and it would flood it. Had to push gas peddle to floor and hold it there until started. If that is the case change temperature sensor. If car is after mid 90s take and get it scanned.

Starter makes funny noise but starts, sometimes

probably the bendix spring is not fully returning try taking starter off and lubricate the bendix and try that, but usually once this starts to be a problem replacing the starter is the solution

Have to turn the starter many times to get car to turn over and start

Probably the solenoid on the starter. Is that what is clicking? Listen for it, if clicking at the starter, probably a bad starter solenoid. Some cars, not all, have a starter relay in the starting circuit. If clicking at a relay block and not from starter, check for a start relay.

2004 dodge dakota sometimes starter just clicks then after a couple times it will start .starter tested good battery is good

That sounds like a starter selenoid problem. The selenoid is what the key switch engages to supply power to the starter. I am not sure of the location but many are on the fender well under the hood. I hope that helps.

I had my nissan diagnosed for battery, starter, and altenator. They were fine, but my car still starts when it wants to.. Sometimes it start and sometimes it doesn't turn over..

This sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere, check the main grounds to your starter and engine and see if you can find one that is loose.

Our 2000 Impala sometimes will not start.

Sounds like a "dead spot" in the starter solenoid. Not sure if you will have to replace the entire starter assembly or just the solenoid. Some GM starters have a solenoid that can't be replaced seperatly.
A trip or call to your local parts store (O'Reilly's / Advance Auto) might be helpful.. explain your problem and see what they think.
