Most likely cause is worn pistons rings but again as with many of these questions if i head under the bonnet i could tell yuo straight away ,grey smoke is a signal of burning oil or antifreeze ,oil is more of a blue colour but whilst vehicle is moving then its difficult with the dispersal of the exhaust

I am using accent CRDI 2005 model, and I find the black smoke coming from the exhaust and vehicle is taking pickup. when i asked the mechanic, they were asked to change the turbo which is not opening......

Black smoke indicates mild excess fuel conditions exist or inefficient combustion resulting in lots of carbon particles in the exhaust gas. This amounts to there being too much fuel for the amount of air or the fuel being injected at the wrong pressure or with a bad spray pattern.

The problem could be anything from a strangled intake to bad fuel injectors and lots of stuff in between. Generally there will be other symptoms as well as the smoke, such as poor performance and increased fuel consumption.

Beginning with a thorough underbonnet visual inspection and followed with a code read might provide a clue. Although the symptoms could be caused by something as simple as a displaced or split vacuum line to the turbo wastegate servo, it is as well to follow best practice and make certain the routine maintenance is up to date and correctly carried out before moving on to checking the correct turbo operation and pressures and egr system operation.

No one could tell you exactly what the problem is without first going through a diagnostic process. A turbo is too expensive to change unnecessarily which makes the systematic approach very desirable..

My Hyundai 1999 model CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND THE FUEL CONSUMPTION IS HIGH.

Do you have black smoke or what looks like soot coming out of the tail pipe. The check engine light monitors fuel pressure through the computer and pressure regulator. It will come on if the pump pressure is too high or too low. If the pressure regulator is faulty it could cause excessive fuel consumption,

What to do, my petrol accent getting hot to fast......? and also giving very low mileage 10km/lt

I have a Hyundai Accent 2002, when check engine ligth, i go tu service center. The code returned for scan is P1401. please, how fix this code ?

P1401 - DMTL Malfunction
The diagnosis module comprises an electromechanically driven pump together with a change-over valve and heater. The engine management system measures the pump's electrical current consumption while pumping air into the canister and fuel tank to check the system's leakage.
If the electrical current consumption is over the threshold value specified before in the memory, this means that there is a tank-system leak.

ghost45_9.jpg 2. DM-TL operating conditions.
(1) DM-TL monitoring operation starts only after all the conditions below are met.
A. Vehicle soaking over 4 hours and 30 minutes.
B. Engine coolant temperature over 2.3°C (36.14°F) when starting.
C. Ambient temperature between 1.5°C (34.7°F) and 40.5°C (104.9°F).
D. 6.4l or more gasoline in the fuel tank.
E. Over 20 minutes driving after starting.
F. During Air Bag is not working.

(2) And also you can check the DM-TL operation with simulation mode of HI-SCAN.

weather is a factor
the age of the car is a factor
parts are wearing out slowly making the engine less efficient to run
a new fuel filter, air cleaner, tune up may help out more than likely too
take it to Auto Zone for a free scan of the computer if you like

Hyundai coupe excessive fuel consumption

Unless the Check Engine Light is ON, there is no vehicle-related issue to fuel consumption. The computer will deliver the exact amount of fuel needed to satisfy the demands placed on the engine, using input from a large variety of sensors, including the accelerator pedal position sensor. Fuel economy estimates in the USA are just that, estimates, derived from a chemical analysis of emissions, and not actual driving. And no vehicle ever hits those numbers.

There are numerous outside factors that have a negative impact on fuel economy:
Vehicle maintenance, driving conditions (stop & go driving KILLS fuel economy), accelerator pedal usage, overall vehicle speeds, loads carried, etc.

Remember, the more you use the gas pedal, the more you use the gas station!

Using to much oil a 2002 accent with 76k. uses about a quart every 1k miles. dop i need to adjust the valves?

That's within acceptable limits according to Hyundai Motor America's standard: For a proper diagnosis, the amount of oil consumed over a known mileage should be checked three times and then averaged. The accumulated mileage divided by the total amount of oil added will give the consumption rate in miles per quart. If the oil consumption rate is greater than 1 quart per each 1000 miles, further diagnosis may be required.

Oil consumption, no smoke, no leaks

Oil consumption can be when the piston rings worn out, also valve gaides worn out.
means engine oil passes through the combustion chamber, you cant see smoke sometimes.but when condition of the piston ring is wost you can see smoke behind the exhaust.
