Sounds like excessive piston blow-by. Pull the dipstick with the engine running to confirm this, but stand clear so you don't get sprayed. The solution - an engine overhaul?

Sounds like you need to replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve.

1987 Ford Ranger: Determining cause of oil leak into and then from air filter pan

It is possible that too much oil is in the engine, check dip dtick to make sure oil is at correct level. Other possibilites include some sort of blockage inside the engine, this is likely to be shown if an oil presure gauge is fitted and reading high. Sorry can't be more helpful.

E30 325i water coming out of airfilter when turn of

This is caused by coolant in the oil in most cases, the vapor reaches the air cleaner via the crankcase vent hose. Coolant in the oil indicates a major engine problem.

Cylinder 3 misses and has carbon biuld up on plug also looks to have oil on the plug, smell like oil is burning , smokes alot out of tail pipe, oil consumtion is a qt, per 300 miles and it looks like oil is...

Geez!

U got a bad piston rings! U have to pull down the PiSTON to replace the PiSTON RiNGS, oil is getting in ur combustion!

Or

Check also the valve guide oil seal, hope that is the faulty one! 'Cause replacing PiSTON RiNGS will cost a LOT!

Check on that first, Oil in ur air filter means a BLOW BACK gas from ur combustion is pushing the oil into the air filter!

BLOW BACK is a residual combustion air that should have been burned or gone thru the exhaust, but w/ poor seal of ur piston ring, it goes into ur CRANK CASE and into ur EGR system w/ excess oil!

Hope that explains everything!

1987 bmw 325 idles rough

On the 325 series I have worked on (your year, make, model), I have found that idling issues like you describe are the result of a defective oxygen sensor. Replace the oxygen sensor with a Bosch unit. That should take care of your issue.

Oil is coming out thought the air filter. why is that. i have a 1986 cabriolet

It is normal for a little oil to end up there, it is caused by a faulty P.C.V. or it could be caused by blow-by , this happens when there is a gap between the pistion rings and the cylinder wall thus it is blowing by and making its way there.

Letting the top down

I had the same problem for four years until I purchased a CD from Ebay titled "BMW E30 Convertible". I discovered, that I was opening the top up incorrectly. The top works fine. Unlatch the top from the windshield frame, then lift up the back half of the top, unlatch the top lid, rise it up and lower the top into the compartment, close and latch the soft top lid. Hopes this helps.

Sounds like you're running rich.

First, change the air filter, and check that the air intake isn't blocked somewhere.

If that doesn't sort it out, it's the carb. They have an automatic choke (cold start), which could be sticking on and causing problems.

One thing it isn't is the timing belt (sorry Satanscash) as this engine doesn't have one... and even if it did, failure of the belt results in a very dead engine!
