First of all you have to get the correct firing order from distributor to all the plugs ,now if you are setting the distributor itself in the block just turn side to side until the gears fall in place

Remove #1 spark plug ( front left ) stuff shop rage in spark plug whole. use screw driver to helt stop up hole just bump starter a few times till you hear a POP that will be top dead center #1 check timing pointer and marks front pully adjust top cemter place dist. in appropriate pos with roter in corect position

There sould be straps on the sides of the seat back rest. Pull on them to release the latch allowing you to lower them

Wire placement 96 tahoe distributer


Take 1 wire off at a time. From spark plug to dis.cap measure and match new one and reinstall new wire ONE AT A TIME it is very easy hope this helps CJ

Timing specs on a 1996 chevy tahoe LS 4wd 5.7 and also the scanner said number 1 and 4 have a random missfire but it wont throw a code


timing is about 5-7 deg btdc and if it is throwing misfire codes. i would suggest using only ac delco spark plugs to avoid this issue.

Timing for 96 Chevy Monte Carlo


put number 1 piston so its on top then adjust distributer rotor to that piston from there you can scink it by ear by turning the whole distributer you will be able to hear the diffrenceand smell it if you getting too lean or heavy your spark plugs will let you know also.

1996 chevy Tahoe put new motor in and gauges are off


is the distributer in correctly those only go in way only and there is no adjusting timing on those motors assuming it is the vortec motor
