Question about 1997 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

I have crank windows, one of them came off track. I've taken the door apart and gotten all the way inside. Set the window, but can't get the bushings into the slide. What do I do?

Call around to some local glass shops, find one that does auto glass. Take it there and pay them a few bucks to fix it and put it back together correctly. Next time take it there to begin with.

The drivers side power window will go up very slow or get stuck and stop completely when trying to put the window up, the back side of the window seems to come off track.

Sounds like you need to replace the window regulator inside the door. It is the scissor like apparatus that the window rides on. If the power window motor is weak it also might need replaced. I would first take the door panel off and inspect it. Then I would spray and lubricate all the moving parts to make sure they aren't binding up. Operate the window with the panel off and look for smooth operation. The plastic bushings that ride in the metal track of the window regulator break or wear flat on one side. Through my experience they make it so you can't just replace the bushings. A window regulator and motor will cost you anywhere between $175 and $300 dollars new depending on where you go.

Passenger power window is off track how to fix

Hi Heidi
This is a very easy and fast fix the Window is only aligned/attached to the track with a plastic lift/pin this has been known to come off and therefore pushing your window of the track.
You really don't need many special tools for this. You only need to remove the door panel (requires a certain size hex screwdriver for the door handle bolts) and then lift the window back on its track. Now the plastic on the track itself could have gotten brittle with age so once your able to see if it infact broke apart you can look at replacing the part usually that one runs between 60-100 dollars if you buy it online through places like ebay or parts.com for example. A remanufacturered guide/track will be quite fine. To take that whole thing apart well there are only 5 bolts you take out then you can pull the lifter assembly out (usually 5-10 minutes to do that) then to put the new one in it takes usually around 10-15 minutes but after that your window is tip top.
I hope this helped Philipp Tomorrowsdriver.com

I have a 06 saturn ion. my window will go up

towards the back of the door is a short track that runs left to right. there should be a nut either loose or missing on this track. put loctite on the stud, then put the nut back on. do this AFTER the window is back on track.

1994 geo prizm windows in back go down but not up.

is this on BOTH windows?? it is odd they both failed at the same time.
If you here the motor running there is something inside the door has let go or falling off. the door will have to be taken apart to be fixed.
this is what's inside YOUR door. (passanger side, drivers side is just a mirror image)
44e5675.jpg 1. there could be a problem between the motor gear and the moon gear. or 2 (most likely) the regulator arm has come off the window track or the window track has come off the glass.
hope this helps.

Driver side door window slowly fell down into the door of my 1997 dodge dakota. The glass did not break.

Power or crank? Either case the rails that hold the window on probably broke. there are slides inside the door that keep the window in place, if a slide broke, or if one of the brackets broke, the window will come down. I cant really recomend doing this yourself as ive had the same issue on other vehicles and pulling apart the door and messing with the slides and stuff in there is a real pain. Hopefully it only fell off the track and you can put it back in place. If not, if your not very handly i would suggest taking to someone.
