Question about 1997 Ford F250 SuperCab

1 Answer

Between the front and rear fuel tanks on my son's 97 F250 powerstroke I see what appears to be a very slight fuel leak from one of the lines going towards the rear tank. Also have noticed that the engine does not run as well when using the fuel from the rear. Could he be sucking in air and more importantly, how can we repair it?

1. Yes, there are air bubbles absorbed inside fuel system lines when car runnings with the fuel from rear tank.
2. You should replace damaged fuel lines going towards the rear tank with new fuel lines. I do not recommend you to repair fuel lines without replacing them.

Why am I having fuel issues with a 97' f-250 7.3 powerstroke, put new sensors on everything, new fuel lift pump, glow plugs, filter, new tank filter, cleaned all the lines from tank to the fuel bowl, s

If this situation occurs after a period of time then check the tank vent correctly at the vent valve on top of the tank. If it occurs reasonably quickly then check the fuel return lines from the injectors to the tank for obstruction ,kinks ,squashed etc preventing the fuel free access to the tank. check the pressure regulator to the pump is holding sufficient pressure to maintain pressure to the pumpin the pump

fuel tank leak could be the seal on the fuller cap or the fuel lines or the seal for the fuel sensor access. thats the rear. front. broken fuel line. cracked fuel line. inner fuel line split. out still ok but it will smell of fuel.

1997 F250 with dual fuel tanks. Fuel from the rear tank siphons into the front tank. When I try using the front tank the engine cuts out under load. Also truck wont start using the front tank

If fuel injected. the tank selector valve switches both the suction line from the tank and the return line back to the tank. It sounds like you have a stuck or bad tank selector valve if the return is not being ported back to the rear tank.

i have that same issue and mine is a 97. I think its either injection related or the high pressure oil pump my buddy's just went out and its doing the same thing our trucks are doing. the best bet is to get rid of your truck or pay 2600 bucks unless your a skilled mechanic or know someone who can do it for cheap because the parts only like 20- 100 bucks

My son ran my truck out of gas. Its a 1988 F250

first, is this a diesel? if it is there is a line or oring loose allowing it to **** air--diesels dont like leaks like that and there is a whole procedure for voiding the air from the lines on diesels. next could be the in tank pump and also does it have duel tanks? does the duel tank switch work? running out of fuel with in tank pumps can burn up the pump (the fuel itself provides lubrication and cooling for the pump, gas or diesel) and of course check the filter, running out and refilling could have disturbed trash in the tank
