Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

1 Answer

When driving, if I hit the gas it makes like a high pitch whining sound. The hrder you hit the gas the louder the sound. You can hear it in idle. It only makes the sound while applying the gas pedal, not while steering.

Hello my name is Israel and I will try to help. The problem sounds as if it could be the tension pulley. This is the pully that puts tension on the belt. It may be going out. Yes I know that your vehicle is only 5 years old but it could happen. I just had mine replaced and it was only 3 years old. Good Luck.

I have had belt problems in the past with other vehicles and it doesnt make the same sound that the belt usually does, sounds like something with the transmission or lubrication of some sort. You may be totally correct, you have more knowledge then me. It just wanted to clarify the sound that I was hearing. Is the tension pulley a common problem that goes wrong?

It is possible, whining could also be the alternator. The alternator bearing could be another. It is possible that it could be going out. I will give you an old school trick. Find a a piece of wood like a broom handle. You have to be very careful when doing this. You will need to have someone help you out. Carefully place one end of the wood on the alternator and place your ear on the other end. Have some one else give the vehicle gas to see if the sound is coming from that device. If there is no change try another device, for example the pulley. What you are "hearing" for is the sound getting loauder. The stick will give you some sort of sign of where the sound id coming from. This will save you some time and moeny. It will take some time but will save you money. Good Luck.

What is making this 08 caliber 2.0L sxt cvt have a High pitched whining sound at idle and driving?

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one

Same problem: a high pitch whine after extended driving

Sounds like a dry/failing bearing or power steering pump noise. You first need to try to track down where the noise is originating, and the most likely place is at the front of the engine.
I would start by listening with the hood up while parked with the engine running and the noise present, and seeing if it is coming from there. If so, the most likely cause is something connected to the belt - e.g. AC compressor clutch, tensioner, power steering pump, or generator. Can also be caused by the belt just slipping (warn out belt, tensioner not working properly).

Loud engine whine (like a jet noise) from 2002 subaru forester

Have you crawled under the vehicle and personally inspected your exhaust line from manifold to tail pipe? The roaring sound usually occur when there is a hole in the exhaust line. I had it happen to my forester before. A hole half the size of a dime made my subaru sound like my old 74 chevy pickup.
