Alighning or adjusting the distributer will affect the timing. On most chevy models there's a screw or bolt with a triangler plate at the base of the distributer just loosen this bolt and you can adjust it. You may have to remove the bolt and plate for the distributer to turn. You may want to make sure you have a distibuter first 2002 models may not have them, i would think for that year model they would have converted to coil packs.

Did you have it out and want to make sure you put it in right or do you just want to set the timing?
If you just want to set the timing, then you just loosen the bolt that goes through the slot on the distributor a bit then turn left or right to advance or ****** the timing till you set it right then just tighten the bolt but be sure not to move the distributor whilst tightening.
If you need to make sure you've put it in right after having it out then just let me know and i'll tell you how.

No spark from distibuter engine turns over but wont start changed coil and modual distibuter cap and router

Hello there:
You may want ro remove the crankshaft and camshaft sensor and use a multimeter and set it to the lowest ohms setting and then touch the two ends of the meter on the pins of the sensor you are testing and see what reading you have it should read 0 then have somebody wave their hand rapidly in front of it and you should read a fairly high reading if not it is faulty and should be replaced i had the same thing happen to mine and it was my camshaft sensor and the wiring was bad too so may want to check it really close ok
Best regards Mike

How do you reset distibuter timing after rebuild

Get the firing order of the motor you are working on, get the direction of rotation of the distributor shaft, pull the plugs and valve covers.
Afetr you line up the timing marks on the front of the enginecrankshaft/timing plate to zero, make sure #1 cylinder piston is up top of ots stroke by putting a screw driver into the plug hole and feeling the piston top, should be at its top stroke, make sure the intake and exhaust valves are both closed on the same cylinder, next go to the distributor and align the rotor to face the # 1 segmant in the distributor cap, lock everything down and install all parts you left open for the test and start it up.
