Sounds like there's a loose wire connection somewhere. May be something more serious though.

What caused it to shut down after I hit a pothole?

If it shut down and will not run at all it could be a number of possibilities . A number of connections may have vibrated loose through the years and the jar of the pot hole knocked it apart.

Hit pothole real bad no damage to car checked all fuses battery it's self has spark but car is unresponsive when I try to turn it on what do I do now jaguar xk8 convertible 1998

In the 1999 Jaguar xj8 there is a fuel cutoff switch on the passenger side right hand panel to the right of the feet. Reach over the top rear of the small panel and find a soft flexible membrane on the top of the switch and press it until it clicks.if that doesnt work, there is a fuel pump relay in the trunk fusebox that might be the problem. 1998 Jaguar XK8 fuel safety shutoff Bing images

MAZDA MILLENIA 2002 S 2.5l....I hit a pothole and the car shut off....When I was pulling over to the side I see check engine light flashing.....I turn off the car and try to start again....it will cra

You need to get the codes that are stored before you narrow down the problem. Auto Zone parts store will get the codes out for free. I do not think there is any obligation to buy the parts from them. The part may not be defective. It just may have come loose from hitting the pot hole.

Fuel safety shut off location

The Cobalt does not have a fuel shutoff, or Inertia Switch, so there is no reset button. Why are you looking for this? Are you having fuel problems?

Car shut off after hitting lg. pothole

Hi

It should be by the drivers door foot-well.

If its not that, could be the cam sensor.

Good Luck !

Please give me a FixYa rating.

I have a 2000 Leganza and i hit a large pothole which immediately caused the car to shut down! is there a safety swith or reset on the fuel system? what else might have caused this? Thanks Jim

just like a ford truck it has a relay switch to shut down the fuel when it has a hard impact to lessen the possability of a fire. I am not sure where it is located but you should be able to find it in your owners manual
