sorry, it's a 2000 ford f250. the windshield wipers do not turn on. everything else on the control arm works like turn signal and high low beam. Have replaced relays underneath the dash and under the hood without any change. I have been seeing reference to the "control module" but do not know where this is or if it is the problem.

    Thanks

have the same problem wipier wont work and have changed motor and switch and have been told this is the problem that it is the GEM but I dont know where it is and what it looks like

My 1994 Taurus has a similar problem but only with the windshield wash cycle. I've isolated it to the fact that I get no electricity to the windshield washer pump motor. (pump motor was replaced) When I push the turn signal lever in, the wipers operate ok but no washing fluid. Is this not the same switch for both the wiper and washer? So if the wipers get juice shouldn't the washer pump get juice?

Plus, the timing for the wipers seem to be ok. Is there a separate timer for the washer motor? If so where is it?

I have a 2001 F250 and this morning the same thing happened to me. The situation sounds identical and I am going to try and replacing the relays and fuses after work. what did you do to fix it?

The Generic electronic Module controls the windshield wipers, this system controls all the electrical items like windows door ajar warning and so on. You need to have the GEM quick tested to determine the area to look for the fault, it is very rare for the GEM to fail, the most ccommon cause is the W/S wiper switch, and next the motor's internal contacts that switch it on, or the motor itself, get the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) tested with a scanner and then get back to me with the fault codes, if I was to guess a part it would be the wiper switch it is fairly expensive so it's better to test first then replace parts after pin-point tests of components and wiring are complete and you can be sure with little room for error what is causing the problem.

SOURCE: windshield wipers won't work right

The windsheild wiper relay might be stuck or broken. Try tapping it with something or replace it. Could also be the the switch (lever that you control the wipers with) i hope this helps and good luck with diagnosing your problem.

SOURCE: Wiper don.t work

Remove the wiper arms amd the panel between the hood and the windshield. There are teflon bushings on the actuater arms that wear out, they are cheap and available from the dealer but can be tricky to install because of the limited access.

My windshields wipers wont work

If that happens, your windshield wipers will not work at all and you won't be able to clear any water, dirt, or snow that ends up on your windshield. Replace the windshield wiper motor right away. The windshield wiper fuse is burnt out. When the windshield wiper motor is overloaded, the fuse burns out.23 Nov 2015

How to Fix Your Windowsheild Wipers

Having windshield wiper/washer problems? Here are some more common problems.

  • Motor:
The wiper motor is commonly replaced and was often not the problem. Don't replace the motor yet. maybe it's not the motor. It could be a fuse or something at the wiper switch. The wiper motor has two windings, fast and slow. The wiper switch sends a ground signal to each motor winding. More often, there are problems with the relay, or at the wiper switch, or in the cable to the motor.

  • Windshield Washer:
Don't be too quick to replace the washer pump. The problem is often just a clog in the sprayer heads. You can clean out the sprayer holes with a needle, some have two holes, so look closely.
Hope this helps.

Windshield wipers completely stopped working

Well first I would check the fuse box for burned out fuses. Then I would get a simple dc power tester and see if the windshield wiper motor is getting power. If you don't have a bad fuse and the motor is still getting power I would say the motor has burned out.
