02 bonneville transmission slips to false nuetral after warmed up. Shut car off for a minute will drive again for a short time. ?????

Your transmission is probably going into "limp" mode. This happens when the car's computer senses something wrong that is potentially very bad. It is your cars way of telling you to take it to the dealer so they can read the error codes in your computer.

My clutch works sometimes and sometimes it don't. I was driving came to a stop, tried to go it sounded like the clutch popped out of gear or something broke. My car wouldn't go so I got towed. but...

A clutch that's failing doesn't behaves like that - it slowly starts slipping until it fails completely and definitely. If it would break suddenly (like when the pressure plate would snap) the noise and the vibrations it would generate would be unbearable.
No, in your case something is failing inside the transmission/gearbox - most likely in the command forks and their locking pins. The gearbox will have to taken off the car and dismantled to investigate and fix that, and it will be expensive.

Having once owned a trans repair shop I will give you
the bad news

ANY SLIPPING even on the way home your done

Slipping starts before you notice it in most cases

If it is a trans axle, it has to come out on a lift
If it is rear drive you can not do that at home
too heavy & too dangerous

No way your son can repair it,too compilcated

I said that because ,if he was experienced you
either wouldn't be here, or would have stated his

I believe your transmission may be shot, Check your dipstick level to make sure your fluid level is full. If it is than your transmission may need a overhaul.
