SOURCE: Volkswagen Diesel

according to haynes beetle repair the code is turbocharger boost pressure control valve positive deviation. to trouble shoot
check the wiring, connecting pipes.using a hand held vacuum pump apply vacuum to the wastegate actuator,(with engine not running) check the actuator arm and lever for freedom of movement , disconnect the electrical connector from the boost pressure control valve. using an ohmmeter check the solenoid windings for an open circuit, the boost pressure control valve should measure about 25 to 35 ohms if excessive resistance or open circuit is indicated replace control valve.
a scan tool is required for a complete diagnosis of the system control circuits some may be rented from a local auto repair store hope this helps and norrows it down for ya

whenever this check light is turned on a fault code for the problem that caused the powertrain control module (computer controller) to turn on the check engine light sets a fault code in its memory, this code is key to finding the problem, u can have the system checked for free by any Kragen, Autozone or other discount parts store like them, get the code(s) and post them back here and we will try and give you the answer to what is wrong.

What size is the engine? Usually the engine code you are looking for is on a tag on the timing belt cover.

Have an engine code p0012,what could it be.on a 2001 v w beetle 1.8 have already changed the timing belt, damper, tentioner, water pump, and check engine light keeps coming on.

The fault code P0012 is a fault on the camshaft position........the probable causes are listed as:
Valve timing, engine mechanical failure, CMP actuator. Hope this helps

I'd check with Shokan (www.shokan.com) - they're an Audi salvage yard in upstate NY, near Woodstock. Your car shares engines with several of the A4 and possibly TT cars, and Shokan can probably supply the engine you need.
