1998 chevy venture won`t start. cranks over pops and backfires, was running great till it shut off when I was driving it. obd says no codes found

unplug the MAF sensor and see if that helps.

I assume you have spark since it is backfiring. Will it start if you use a little carb spray in the throttle body?

If it does than you have a fuel issue. Check fuel pressure. You should see more than 35 psi roughly. If there is no fuel pressure than check for power to the pump (the larger of the two grey wires at the pump). If there is power than the fuel pump would be the first thing I suspected.

Dashboard lights and gauges go out, windows won't work

Your alternator is out. Those are classic symptoms of alternating going out. The alternator recharges your electrical system and when it goes out a list of strange things go on inside the dash, and you won't be able to go very far on just a battery. I'm glad you at least made it home. But yes you will need a new alternator for sure. Please rate this response so I can get my ratings back up to 90% at least.

Dash lights dimmed, car shut off, won"t start

if any of your warning lights came on be fore it died, and if you have no cranking power to start the car i would get the alternator tested or do it your self with a voltage meter. get a jumpstart and the alternator should be putting out 14.8 dc. if not then you need a new one

99 cavalier battery light comes on but new battery....

it sounds to me like it could be the alternator im afraid but the only real cheap way to tell is time. if you continue to drive this and keep a check on wether it still starts or lights dim, with it being a new battery it is going to take a while fot it to go flat. if it does then try not to drive it too much as this will break it and cost you even more.
