sounds like your alternator is seizing up. take of the serpentine belt and turn the alternator by hand if it sweels or don`t turn, time to replace it. easy fix if thats the case. while your belt is off check the other pullys as well.
must have a adjuster on it somewhere i would have thought ,but as iam in spain and never worked on one i have no idea where it is ,as its an old car the adjuster is most likely on the alternator or the power steering

most likley the bearing in the ac clutch went out . on that year of a car you may be able to find a used ac compressor . you can change the ac clutch but there is some special tools you will need for that . u may be able to get from autozones loan a tool program

call a parts store they usually can provide you the routing for serpantine belts good luck getting it right though it can be tricky pay close attention to how the belt is routed :)
