The 3698950 is the casting number for a C1 corvette rear differential. I am looking for one of these if you have one for sale.

I have a 1973 Nova that has a bad automatic transmission. We also have an extra powerglide transmission that we thought we could exchange and put into the Nova. Is this an allright idea?

1974 is the last year of swapping transmissions without having second thought of doing so.
I would keep the THM 350 in it for the Powerglide trans is far worth more than the 72 Nova you have. These transmissions are getting so rare and gear heads are paying big bucks for them now
If you do plan to install this one in your Nova make sure the splines are exactly the came so the driveshaft fits. If not a different spline will be needed for your drive shaft

How can I tell if the distributor gear is steel or cast iron?

unless you pull the distributor and use a magnet to tell =if its cast it wont stick and steel will as well the gear should be steel as it takes on torque if it were cast it would be more substitutable to break

Automatic transmission oil type & power steering oil type

Genuine Hyundai ATF. DO NOT use any other fluid. I say again DO NOT use any other fluid even if it claims to be compatible. Hyundai says there is no substitute. Drive to your local Hyundai dealer and purchase the fluid there and take no chances of destroying your transmission to save a few dollars.

TH 350 transmission question

Thought you had an old "slip & slide powerglide" ! I like the way they originally cursed them, then all the racers wanted them all of a sudden. Anyway, if you have the TH350, which your obviously cruising and shifting manually, just go with gear selection that sounds good to you, RPM wise. I never look at a tachometer, all by ear. The TH 350 are pretty strong too. Then of course there's always a shift kit that will make it bang into next gear & chirp tires for cruising too.

Powerglide tranny rebuilt bines motor and only has reverse

Sounds like the trany shop didn't rebuild the transmission like they were. Take the truck back to the shop and have them rebuild it at their cost, if they did it not to long ago.
