Question about 1994 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have no brake lights. I checked at the fuse box under the hood and found it OK. Then I went to the foot peddle switch and found the switch OK but when I checked for power going into the switch none could be found. To my knowledge there should be a hot wire here correct? I'm thinking there is a relay some were under the dash?? Greg

Do you have turn signals ok?

Is your rear turn signal bolb the same one used for brakes?

Some turn signals are amber and some are red using the same bulb as the brakes. In that case the brake lights go through the turn signal switch.

But you would have power at the pedal switch.

No relay but there should be a fuse in the dash anel or under the hood if you have a battery box under the hood. Your owner manual will tell you where the fuses are and which one is hte brake. Usually a 15 amp.

My brake lights dont work and i am trying to find the fuse box

The fuse block that contains the brake light relay is under the left side of the rear seat. There is also
a fuse block under the right side of the rear seat. Another behind the dash under the steering column. And one more under the hood right front corner of the engine compartment. If the relay is
good, check the brake light switch for constant 12v in and 12v out when peddle is pushed.
The brake light switch is under the dash at the top of the brake peddle. Hope this helps.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and i cant find but only one fuse box and it is the relay box under the hood. does anyone know if there is another one and where it is? My cruise control light comes on...

The circuit diagram that I have. Only shows the 1
fuse/relay block, under the hood on the left fender.
Fuse #24 a 20amp fuse is for the cruise ctl. But the way it appears to be wired. If the fuse is blown the
light should not be working. Try checking for vacum
at the servo unit. It's a diaphram with a small chain
that go's to the throttle assy. It's mounted on the rear
(drivers side)of the engine. Also check for vacum
leaks at the vacum chamber. The chamber is at the
bottom of the battery box. You can also check the
brake light switch, This can shut off the cruise cont.
if it sends a signal that the brake peddle is depressed
The switch is located at the top of the brake peddle.
Hope this helps.

2007 chevy silverado brake lights dont work but the one above bed and blinkers and tail lights do work

I had the same problem! I used a piece of wood to keep the break pedal depressed and then started to remove one of the break lamps and to my surprise it came on! Same thing on the other side. So I did not seat (bottom out) the lamps in their sockets and both break light are now working properly. I had a similar issue last spring but that time only one light was out. I put in a new bulb and it still did not work so I messed around with it a little more and it started working. Never did figure it out until now. Hope this helps!

Brake lights went out. Checked bulbs and fuse, both are ok. What else could it be?

If the tail lights are still working the problem is probably the brake light switch. It could be bad of just have disconnected wires. Normally it would be located at the top of the brake peddle arm under the dash, but some put them on the master brake cylinder under the hood in front of the driver. To test disconnect the two wires and put them together with the ignition on. Have someone watch if the lights come on. Good luck.

2003 silverado 1500 v-6 brake lights dont work

ljones, Did you check the "VEH stop" fuse in the left side instrument panel fuse box. There are 3 stop light fuses, 1 for all the stop lights located in the under hood fuse box. 2 in the left side IP fuse box. 1 for the upper stop light and 1 for the lower stop lights. The fuse box in the IP is where the upper and lower stop lights split. Let me know.

Brake lights

under the brake peddle is a switch. Lift the brake peddle upwards and you will see that the brake light goes out [requires two people; one to hold the peddle up, other to view the brake lights]. Restrengthen the spring tension on the brake peddle.

Should the lights remain ON after you lift the brake peddle up, unplug one of the wires to the brake peddle switch. At this point, the brake lights should be off. This basically will determine whether your switch is shorted or is just a peddle pressing down on the switch due to a bad spring.
