Question about 1990 Chevrolet C1500

Open Question

1990 c1500/v-8 at times hesitates pulling off. It sometimes wont take the required fuel to throttle body unless its accelerated hard and then sometimes it will still hesitate like the engines cutting out. Sometimes while driving, "service engine" indicator will appear and the problem will start again. At times, it runs great. Ive changed all sensors, egr, even added a new distributor, wires and plugs. No change.( What do I need to do? )

Hi annie_bryant, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Did you also change the MAP sensor? Here is a procedure for testing it.

Backprobe with a high impedance voltmeter at MAP sensor terminals A and C.
With the key ON and engine off, the voltmeter reading should be approximately 5.0 volts.
If the voltage is not as specified, either the wiring to the MAP sensor or the ECM may be faulty. Correct any wiring or ECM faults before continuing test.
Backprobe with the high impotence voltmeter at MAP sensor terminals B and A.
Verify that the sensor voltage is approximately 0.5 volts with the engine not running (at sea level).
Record MAP sensor voltage with the key ON and engine off.
    Start the vehicle.
Verify that the sensor voltage is greater than 1.5 volts (above the recorded reading) at idle.
Verify that the sensor voltage increases to approximately 4.5. volts (above the recorded reading) at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
If the sensor voltage is as specified, the sensor is functioning properly.
If the sensor voltage is not as specified, check the sensor and the sensor vacuum source for a leak or a restriction. If no leaks or restrictions are found, the sensor may be defective and should be replaced.

I've got a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee with the 5.2 v8 fuel injected Holley throttle body. My problem is while driving at soft or low acceleration it accelerates fine, but if you hit the throttle hard it

I would check the voltage on the throttle portion sensor with the engine off from idle to wide open throttle. If there are any dead spots, replace the sensor. If the tps checks out, you should check fuel pressure. If you have good fuel pressure, you may want to make sure there isn't a lot of slack in your timing chain. I don't believe you mentioned the mileage of your vehicle. Best of luck.

1990 chevy c1500 hesitation and stumbling during acceleration

Based on what you said, I would say the engine is starving for fuel.
The computer has to be disabled to set timing - there should be a procedure for that.
I would start with checking fuel pressure at the throttle body. If the TPS is faulty you should have a fault code in the computer.
If the fuel pressure is ok and there are no codes, I would suspect the injectors.

2003 dodge caravan is slow to pick up speed

Replace the fuel filter as a first step, but also check for a faulty fuel regulator. Find the fuel regulator near the throttle body in the fuel line and pull off the rubber hose and see if there are any traces of fuel dripping out of the rubber hose. The hose is for air only and fuel in that hose indicates the fuel regulator requires replacement. Also check for vacuum leaks in the hoses from the motor's intake to the crankcase where the PCV valve is located. Relatively small holes in that area will cause poor acceleration and a lean condition in the motor and loss of power or hesitation. Also check the plastic air tubes going from the air filter box to the throttle body area to make sure everything is tight and there are no holes. Holes or leaks there will cause hard starts and poor driveability.

1990 c1500 350 5.7l TBI wont start sometimes. Fuel pump pressurizes, and oil pressure guage fluctuates massively. Then when you try to start it, it cranks but wont fire. no gas is getting to the carb....

If you pull the aircleaner off and watch the throttle body injectors they dont have anything coming out?
Double check the map sensor and the throttle position sensor?
Computer? I wonder if a wire to the computer has shorted out to ground.

1990 Pontiac Lemans choke plate location

I'm venturing to guess that a 1990 lemans is fuel injected. then you wouldn't have a choke plate. I would start by checking the iginition system first, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and if all that looks good then look at the fuel system.
