I recommend you go to an auto parts store and tell them that the fuse for the rear window defroster has blown and they will find the fuse and replace it for you.

My 2007 chevy impala back windshield wont defrost at all...the front windshield defroster works perfectly..please help.

There is a female-male connector that connects the wire harness from engine to the cab located in passenger side kick panel. Find it and disconnect them. Look at each side to see if the connector is burnt. If it is it will need to be replaced or you can cut the rear defrost wire away from the connector and connect them direct. To much amperage causes these to burn out. If joining them direct do it cleanly and at your own risk. You can check the current at the rear defrost to see if this is the issue. front defrost is supplied by heated air. Rear is an electric coil on the window.

I have a 2002 chevy venture mini van. the rear defrost and rear windshield wiper doesnt work. possible reasons?

rear defrost will not work with the following reasons one the fuse could be burnt, 2 the wire going to the rear defrost could be broken, 3 there is a break in one of the lines on the rear window, 4 where the connector is to the rear defrost it could have either broke at the window or the solder let go

check the connections going in to the window leads and also with a test light ,check if their is power at the terminals that plug into the window leads. does your car still have factory warranty that the dealer can look into this.

Rear defrost won't turn off.

Disconnect the cable that goes to the defroster at the rear windshield, this will allow you to put the fuse back for now. Check or replace the rear defroster switch. If its not the switch you have a short-circuit. You can try replacing the wires from the switch to the back windshield, you can use the same switch or an after market one will do.

Rear windshield wiper works...somtimes?

I have a 2004 suburban that had wiper/defroster problems. I would check the connector between the hatch and the body. It is located at the top right corner. The plug is under the rubber boot where it enters the body. Mine had lost connection due to corrosion and needed to have a jumper wire placed around the connector for the power and ground wires. Give it a look and see if that is the problem.

Windshield defrost

rear windshield deforst has twon connections that are black wires. you will find these under the panel on the trunk door.

front windshield. the black stip the the wipers are on have the same black wires under it.

check fuses under dash and hood . check relays the clean contact points under these panels.
DO NOT BYPASS any power wires. the defrost has a low amp and voltage control.

Rear defroster

first thing fuse is ok yes? switch light works ? when on ? go to the boot /hatch and lift open on the bottom of door/hatch you may find contacts elec ? and if so these contact other contacts on lower cross panel the door closes onto ? these sometimes get dirty/corroded ? or stick down try rust freeing fluid and clean contacts this may work? if not then use a voltmeter and check power supply from switch to rear screen? hope this helps?
