My 1997 chevy express has a loud screeching under the hood i changed my alternator 4 times already but the noice keeps coming back help.

you may only have a loose may not be the altenator belt,it may be another component thats bad. suggest you try starting the engine with hood up and look visually for a pulley thats not turning properly.or a pulley that wobbles.if you have more than one belt, look at all the belts to insure they are operating properly, hope this helps,if not, then please repost your question to there are experts online and ready to assist you!

Time belt how maney miles do you change it

The timing belt of the car is to be changed after it has run 60000 miles. Try to change it once it is approaching the 60000 miles, if not it might damage the entire engine and it will cost You a lot more to replace the engine than replacing just the timing belt.

If You need the steps to replace the timing belt, You can call back for more assistance. I will be so glad to be of assistance to You once again.

Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

When should i change my timing belt on my 06 vw jetta tdi.

You should change your timing belt at the factory scheduled intervals (unless you feel like dropping $1600 on a head and valve job). Timing belts are made of rubber and synthetic material and fatigue over time due to heat and stress. They play a very crucial part because they open and close the valves in time with the compression and exhaust stroke of the motor. If your timing belt is not changed in due time then eventually it will grenade, and there is a very good possibility that it could cause internal engine damage.A $600 timing belt job is much cheaper than a top-end motor build.I hope that I could be of some worthy assistance.........rate me accordingly and thanks for using Fixya!!

Hello, and Welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you.

Your mention of "on trying to start the engine turns over very fast" is indicative of a timing belt issue. Either the belt has broken, or the belt has jumped a few teeth. When the belt is out of "time", there is less compression, which results in the engine 'turning over' faster, and a no-start condition.

What you need to do: Replace the timing belt, and, while the belt is being replaced, check the water pump for any evidence of seepage; if so, replace the water pump at the same time.

The good news here is this: Your engine is NOT of the type that will 'bend' the valves when the belt breaks or jumps teeth.

Replacing the timing belt will fix you right up.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

When to change timing belt and it acts like it want to skip.

Most manufacturers will tell you to change the timing belt every 60,000 miles or so. If it's true that it's actually skipping time now, CHANGE IT! Are you sure it's the timing belt skipping or is it something else like an ignition problem? Is your check engine light on?

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of further assistance. :)

Honda Civic 1988 1.5 - will not turn over

timing belt might have not been tight enough a nd it jump a couple of teeth causing the valve to hit the piston. see if you can rotate the engine either way clockwise or counter clockwise if you can re time the engine.

Timing belts are not easy to change.  You need to be experienced, mechanical, and have a decent set of tools, access to both the top and bottom of the car will also be required.  Good luck.

Also, this a a good opportunity to change the water pump and the drive belts.
