This job requires special tools and special training. If you lack either, you risk SERIOUS personal injury. Injury comes VERY EASILY!

You need to address oil levels, proper and legal refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and recharge.

The amount of refrigerant needed is a calculation; just adding is NOT the correct method. At a given ambient temperature, you need to achieve a pressure. Measurements are to be made at both low and high pressure sides of the system. From these readings, a calculation can be made about refrigerant quantity.

If you are opening the system, you were planning to also replace the receiver/dryer, correct? It also needs the oil in it measured and incorporated into the amount of oil (in %) that would need to be added. FAILURE to address these and other issues will guarantee premature system failure and likely compressor damage.

Take this job to a qualified shop.

Air blowing hot

Because your not using the proper a/c manifold
gauge set ,or the proper working procedure, to
be working on any a/c system.
You buy the store junk with a hose crimped on
& no way to get air out of the hose, now you let air in
& got 40# & not 28# on low side
You will need a knowledgable professional to recover
the refrigerant,repair the obvious leaks,or you wouldn't
be trying to add to the system in the first place
Your were trying to add,not recharge
Charging is done when the system is in a deep vacuum
& all the moisture removed.

Hey i try to solve some problems myself before i take my 2003 x type jag to the shop. where is the portal to add feon located

topped two of these cars up last summer but i cannot remember ,i do know i had to look for them myself but as i do so many cars of different makes i cannot remember them all ,my alldata book is showing the pollen filter but no the AC ports ,You need the low pressure side to draw the gas in with the engine running and AC turned on full blow so follow the fat pipe back from the compressor and follow it along and you will find the port ,i honestly cannot remember to be honest

Air cond not cool

yes if they had to (clean) the orfice that means that your compressor is coming apart. you sould replace to com dryer and orfice flush the system very well and then pull a vacuum and recharge. if the orfice was blck and had little bits of metal on it that means your com is taking a dump and it cant compress the fluid well enough so low cooling is the outcome.

AC warms when at idle speed

I dont belived having bigger radiator make your ac unit run better although radiator has nothing to do with ac beside colling your engine. If that was an issue to all cases, i think GM would have recall all of their envoy due to cooling issue, that's not so. If the car has been running fine since it was band new and now it started to have this cooling problems, I dont understand how can one come up with and idea that the radiator is too small, that dont make sense to me. Your eveporator sit in front of your radiator it may not have good flow of air movement to cool down the hot gases in the evaporator, maybe fan clutch is not working properly keeping the fan run at constant speed. The unit mabe also low on feon and not having enough feon in the systems causing your systems not to run properly. Low pressure or low feon will cause the unit also to run poorly and will caused the pressure switch to cut compressor on and off more frequent. Have the pressure tested and filled if need first. being 2003, if with high miles; its it good time to also have your thermostat replace if you never have it done. Hope that help some

How to recharge ac on 2003 s-type

Hello AC is a little tricky when it comes to Jaguar cars as it has a certain system to charge the AC. If the problem is only low on AC gas , you have to pressure test the gas circulation to make sure that there is no leak , as recharging will not do the trick if it is a leak problem. If it is a matter of short on gas and pressure test proves that there are no leaks , then all what you have to do is connect the gas supply to the inlet gas pipe and charge slowly and on phases , while engine is running and AC is at low speed. You have to feed the gas at more than one time and close as Jaguar would not take the gas at once , it has to be done more than once at small portions so that it will take the gas. It is tricky as you have to know about AC pressure values , as if you put less that required AC would not cool properly , and if too much Compressor will disconnect and would not run properly Hope that helps

Air con only works for 5 minutes then goes warm on my jaguar x type 2.0 petrol 2003

Hi, it sounds like an undercharged condition.Locate your ac compressor and watch the end of the pump shaft(clutch). If the clutch isnt turning while it is blowing warm, check the pressure in the system.Low charge will cause the clutch to disengage. It does this because the pressure switch isnt meeting the requirments to close the circuit to the compressor clutch..Good Luck!!!Dont forget to rate my answer...Thank You
