Sounds like the lifters are ticking. Try this - go get the proper oil and filter to do an oil change. Also buy some Seafoam (available at the parts stores as well). Pour half the bottle into your oil, and drive for about 50 miles. Then change the oil and filter. Seafoam has worked great for me in the past on many different cars, and it can help break up deposits and sludge in your engine, which may be blocking the oil from reaching the lifters.

You can put the other half of the bottle of Seafoam into your gas tank and allow it to de-resin your fuel system.

Check your oil........ it sounds like a lifter in the top of the engine. if you let it go to far you might take the chance of having a rod thrown through your engine.

2008 oil leak and engine ticking

An engine used oil for lubrication and colling. If there is no oil then there is no lubrication. No lubrication means lots of heat and friction. Is it a ticking or banging noise? I do believe it is an ohc engine so it couldnt be a lifter ticking. It is probably a rod knocking. It so then it will more than likely need an engine

I have a 2005 dodge neon sxt, in the morning when I start it up I hear a loud knocking noise from the engine but after about 15 seconds it gets softer but is still there all day when I'm driving around.

It is probably your lifters sticking. Check your engine oil level and if thats fine, then add some oil detergent/additive that says it will "reduce engine knock and free sticky lifters" run with that additive for a couple hundred miles or until the noise gets better. then replce your oil after that without using the additive

Loud tick & knocking for a 1zzfe engine from 2001 toyota corolla

from what you are describing it sounds like a lifter/valve issue, i am a ford man i don't know if toyota do the same thing, but if they use inserts for the valve seats it is possible a valve seat has been dropping just has not dropped fully out to cause engine damage. buying a new engine will actually cost you less than an overhaul/rebuild anymore. the parts will cost you almost as much as a new motor will with all the machining that maybe needed.

I accelerate my 2000 neon, and it vibrates and get grinding noise

Check the front drive axles and boots. A bad cv (constant velocity) joint can cause this.

1992 side kick

problem here is a ticking to one is a knock or a tap or a thud ect to others so of my experiance with engines if its a ticking that gets louder with the engine getting warmer its got to be the tappets its the only thing that would get louder if it gets louder when accelerating it could be ignition timming causes pinking most other things on engines that cause ticking sounds could be something catching fuel pumps cause a ticking noise but are not normally affected by engine temp yates210456

Tick noise

if its a constintly ticking noise while driving sometimes it can go and fade away, this is due to your tappets or also lifters are worn out or not getting oil to them due to your oil pick up, and this will also give you the engine light and the engine light wil stay on all the time till the problem is fixed
