Question about 1997 Saturn SL

1 Answer

My 97 Saturn will not start it almost turns over then stops. none of the interior lights are working or the radio but the outdoor running lights work just fine. I tried to boost it and got nothing. We just had a new fuel pump (in gas tank) put in and new spark plugs and filter. there is plenty of gas getting through but not fire to light it. I've checked the spark plugs myself and their fine. And the car sounds healthy when trying to turn over.

Radio does not turn on. the clock shows, the light

The memory wire of the radio,(the power for the clock and channel settings) is usually connected to the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. (there is a seperate fuse for radio) Check your cigarette lighter socket for damage or dirt, etc. could be causing the memory fuse to blow. Also check your cig lighter accesories (like cell phone chargers, etc.)

P.S. The backlight is also a seperate circuit (connected to interior light/parking light circuit)

how old is the battery???? sounds like the battery is going bad or has a bad cell in it... change the battery out for a new one, that should fix the problem...
