Question about 1997 Saturn SL

1 Answer

My 97 Saturn will not start it almost turns over then stops. none of the interior lights are working or the radio but the outdoor running lights work just fine. I tried to boost it and got nothing. We just had a new fuel pump (in gas tank) put in and new spark plugs and filter. there is plenty of gas getting through but not fire to light it. I've checked the spark plugs myself and their fine. And the car sounds healthy when trying to turn over.

Radio does not turn on. the clock shows, the light

The memory wire of the radio,(the power for the clock and channel settings) is usually connected to the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. (there is a seperate fuse for radio) Check your cigarette lighter socket for damage or dirt, etc. could be causing the memory fuse to blow. Also check your cig lighter accesories (like cell phone chargers, etc.)

P.S. The backlight is also a seperate circuit (connected to interior light/parking light circuit)

No electricity no start and then will start again

you may have a bad ground connection. Start with battery black cable. Check all your ground points, may need a service manual.

Car was running, I stopped it to check my box. When I tried to start it again, it would not start. Radio works, interior, exterior and dash lights work but are very dim. Any suggestions? When I try to turn...

how old is the battery???? sounds like the battery is going bad or has a bad cell in it... change the battery out for a new one, that should fix the problem...

97 Malibu. V6-3100. Starter turns engine, but car

I think you may have answered your own question. I would check to see if the fuel pump is turning on when you turn the key on to the run position. You should hear a buzz sound coming from the gas tank. I would start there.
