I'm assuming you changed the plugs and wires - did you make sure the plugs are gapped correctly? Usually they come pre-gapped, but not always. Also, did you change the cap and rotor? If not, that can definitely keep the car from starting. Get a new distributor cap and rotor and install them, then let me know what the results are.

Does the motor crank really fast?If so the timing chain could be the issue,if not I would check the ditsributor cap and rotor if your motor has them or the coil pack for a newer ranger.I dont know the year of your truck but these are probably your issue.

Check if the injectors is getting gas

  1. there is a hose from the fuel filter to the injector rail,
  2. disconnect from the rail and place it in a bottle
  3. turn the ignition on and you should see gas pump into the bottle.
check to see if the injectores are opening
  1. remove the injector rail, together with the injectors, hooses and eletrical plug intact.
  2. face the injectors up and away from the engine
  3. have someone tumble the vehicle, you should see gas pump out the injectors.
If there isnt any, then check to make sure the injectors are getting power.

Changed fuses ND now my truck won't start 98 mercury mountaineer

Which fuses did you change? I don't know what ND means? If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, also check fuel injector pulse. What about your security system? Can you check for applicable trouble codes. To check, you need an obd2 code reader, at least. There may not be any codes?

Car cranks but will not start

What is year--make--model and engine size? If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs, where applicable. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check for fuel injector pulse, where applicable.

Check for applicable trouble codes. If the vehicle is obd2, to check codes yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader.

Check for an rpm signal.

My chev spark 1.0 it shows engine lite when I start the engine

If the lite stays on, engine running, you need to check it out. From here I can't tell if it means, it's time to change oil and filter or something else? Check all you fluids. Check for applicable trouble codes. If your obd2, you need an obd2 code reader to check codes, yourself. Some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.

Intermittent spark

You need to perfrom an engine control computer scan for fault codes, to do this you need a basic scanner called an OBD2 code reader.

Engine will intemitently ru on three cylinders rather than 4. Happens when it has been on a long run and engine light will flash. Water and oil levels not the issue.

Which three? The same three? differing three? Have you checked the sparking plugs? HT leads? ...Next you need to get an OBD2 reader to plug in and read which cylinder is mis-firing... maybe (usually is!) a coil pack that is on its way out... but double check first.. ok?

I changed all three coils and plugs and wires. I also verified the correct firing order as well as the plkug placement. the engine will turn over and hit but will not idle or accept throttle ,after several...

You changed coils, plugs n wires, but did you check if you have spark? your ignition module could be faulty. Don't forget to clean or replace plugs before trying something else and while you'r at it check your firing order one more time.

Also check for:

Vacuum leaks, uneven or low cilinder compression, ignition timing, dirty air filter, spark plug gap, idle air control selenoid sticking, EGR valve stuck open and faulty map sensor.

I am curious on how all this started!! When was the last time the car ran fine?

Good Luck buddy!!

Number 2 spark plug

Are you sure it's the spark plug that's faulty or the ignition wire?? How old are plugs and wires?
If you don't know if it's your spark plug not firing or your ignition wire you could move spark plug to number 1 then check your code reader.
Or you could do an ohms continuity test on your number 2 ignition wire to verify that there is no break in the wire. Common problem to check for. If wires and plugs are old and high mileage maybe should change all including cap and rotor on distributor. Fresh wires plugs cap and rotor always improve mileage and performance.
Good luck, sorry can't help with tranny.
