I have 97 gmc 1500 5.0 v8, i took it to a local mechiniac and when he hooked it up to the computer it read out p0305 code, cylinder 5 misfire. changed out the spark plugs, same problem, did a compression check and it was 90psi... Now just recently i had the head gaskets done, new water pump, pretty much the whole top end. could i need to do the bottom end now??

While the 90PSI. is low, it will run ok like that. Check to see if it's getting spark from Dist.cap to that plug, it could be a bad igntion wire. If you find everything's good, then these motors with this type injection system have problems with the injection module and have to replace the unit as the nossels aren't seperate.
