Sounds like you need coolant service. When coolant gets old and hasent been changed it can cause the thermostat to stick open. When this happens coolant never stops flowing to and from radiator. When this happens the engine never really gets up to temperature causing the heat to not work properly. You should get a coolant flush done and replace thermostat and this will solve your problem.

Tahoe heater

That was a good guess but if you temp gauge on the dash is normal then you don't have a bad t-stat. you probably have a bad heater control valve. It's what controls how much coolant goes into the heater core. Could also be a blend air door inside the heater box up under the dash. or a plugged heater core.

My 1999 Chevy Malibu runs hot? It started when it overheated. We changed the thermostat, then water pump, then temp sensor gauge and the temp gauge goes high but only when the heater stops blowing hot...

Air pockets will make the guage do that, and also cause your heat to come and go. Also, a poor radiator, as in rotting, or plugged up, will cause high temperature issues.

Temperature gauge fluctuates and the heater blows cold air

Definitely check your fluid level in your radiator. Top it off all the way. I've seen that happen multiple times on cars that were low on anti-freeze. If that doesn't work try replacing your thermostat. It's cheap and the easiest place to start if topping off the fluid doesn't get you fixed up.

Heater / defroster is blowing lukewarm air only. It seems to work just a little better if the fan is on half. When it is on full the air seems cooler.

is the cooling system full,if so you may hve to get the heater core cleaned as they can plug up if the dexcool anti freeze has not been changed, could also have defective thermostat(stuck open)if you have gauge does it go half way or stay low temp, other causes could be stuck air blend door in heater system
