Question about 1983 Nissan Pickup
Does it have the OEN type cap because it should have the # on it if you cant work out which one is the left or right side you can disconect one of the wires that go to one coil that will give you 4 to sort out and the other 4 will follow. the firing order is 1342. going by men=mory here #1 is looking straight at the cap bottom left and the direction is anti clock wise. if you use the outer row of leads I think it uses the top coil.the only way to confirm this is to look at the rotor and work out which coil goes to the outer group. the iner group is 180deg out of rotaition
by the way these 8 plug motors had a bad habit of failing at the rotor in the cap crossfire would happen to 2 plugs and make do all sort of faults.
see how you go....

To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement.
If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes to reflect how your engine is wired.
