Question about 1990 Toyota Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 90 toyota pickup. I just noticed a ticking with the engine. The ticking is faint at idle was raises with acceleration and tick appears to go away when let off the throttle. Oil gauge is also reading quite low. I drove for approx 5 min after the tick began then parked my truck at home. What would you diagnose that as? Is is fixable by adding oil before i drive anywhere. Also my truck didnt lose power with the tick and low oil pressure. Please help me.

When was last oil change? I'd start there with a good 10w-40 wt oil and filter.

Engine knocking, valve ticking loud in engine, when idle or drivi

Make sure the oil level is good, and have the oil pressure check by a garage or someone who can, by using a external gauge to see what the actual oil press is. Low oil pressure will give you the ticking, start there.

Ticking when the accelerator is pressed

it may sound like the clutch but this problem has nothing to do with the clutch. these motors are notorious with machinists. The oiling system is lousy, you are most likely throwing rod #6 in the motor.
as the machinist up the street from me has noted that everyone that he has done was rod #6 being thrown.

Loud tick & knocking for a 1zzfe engine from 2001 toyota corolla

from what you are describing it sounds like a lifter/valve issue, i am a ford man i don't know if toyota do the same thing, but if they use inserts for the valve seats it is possible a valve seat has been dropping just has not dropped fully out to cause engine damage. buying a new engine will actually cost you less than an overhaul/rebuild anymore. the parts will cost you almost as much as a new motor will with all the machining that maybe needed.

DOES IT HAVE A LOT OF MILES ON IT OR MAY BE THE OIL PUMP IS IS GOING OUT? THERE IS A SPRING IN THE PUMP THAT IS A BYPASS FOR HOW HIGH PSI IT MAY HAVE BROKE THAT WILL GIVE YOU LOW PSI.
