My Lincoln Continental 97 will not start, it will take a jump sometimes and others times it won't. When it does start I shut it off sometimes it starts other times it won't. I had the battery and alternator checked both are good...what else could it be?

When you said you checked battery did you make sure battery cables and battery terminals are clean? if not dissconnect battery and clean both positive and negative cables and terminals with either hard bristle brush or scotch guard. remember you will not have a solid connection if battery terminals or cables are corroded.

I had a similar problem with my Toyota Camry just a month or two ago. (maybe)

I would park it, and when I tried to start it again I would get NO power. I called roadside assistance and they sent someone out to jump me, but then it died again while I was driving, again, everything electrical cut out suddenly.

There was a bad ground wire on the alternator. A neighbor had it fixed for me in about 20 minutes.

I have a 91 Lincoln continental and my neighbor was giving me a jump and reversed the polarity if my batter and blew a fuse link where is that fuse link and what is its name

there is a fusible link next to the battery. sometimes they appear as ceramic blocks and other times as a fabric covered wire. If you have EFI and a cpu then be prepared for a dead system as they do not like wrong polarity on jump starting.

I have a 97 Lincoln Continental and my air bags would go down within a short time. after starting the car they would air up ok though. It finally got to where they would air up but loose air while driving...

Well I'm going to conclude you have a leak in the system which is why the car is dropping. The only time the compressor should come on is when extra weight is added to the car such as passengers.
Since the compressor has been running more than normal, the relay that powers it could have failed. You would need to trace the power circuit to find out. Could be a problem with the height sensor too.

How to reset fuel shut off switch in trunk of a 1997 lincoln ctnl

just press the button to reset it. Per your owner manual. Should only trip in an accident.

WHen you turn on the key, can you hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. The pump is in the fuel tank. listen there while someone turns the key on. report back.

97 lincoln continental says door is ajar.

the door switches are part of the door latch, the easiest way to remedy this is to spray liberal amounts of WD40 into each latch and open and close the each door a few times, this should loosen up the latch and solve your problem.

Hope this helps.
