Question about 1999 Chevrolet Malibu
I got the same problem and checking out to solve it found out that a cable from the sensor was cut, repair the cable and restart the failure code disconnecting the battery for at keast 10 min

A fault with the abs sensor on one or more of the backing plates behind rotor assembly it uses a magnetic pickup to compare the wheel speed relative to others and when to engage abs if the light is on the abs is currently functioning in the non abs mode
