Use a de-greasing spray like WD40 , apply for some time and then use a good set of BOX spanners or ring spanners with the correct size to wrench free the nuts. If jammed use a double end spanner with a hammer but with caution , not to damage the nut or allow it to be rounded off.

You are on the right track, you can buy those bushings. Just go in and ask for the rear control arm bushings and they should be able to look it up and get the right ones for you. I have a 91 Camry, great cars.

2000 Honda CRV, how to remove rear axle shaft


REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts.
  2. Carefully raise the locking tab of the axle spindle nut using a hammer and chisel.
  3. Loosen and remove the axle nut.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Remove the rear wheel.
  6. Remove the halfshafts from the differential. Refer to the differential removal procedure in this section for specific details.
  7. Carefully remove the halfshaft from the trailing arm assembly by tapping on it with a plastic hammer, or using a suitable drift and hammer.
To install:
    Installation is the reverse of removal taking note of the following points:

    • Install new set rings in the groove of the splined inner CV-joint shafts.
    • Top off the differential fluid as necessary.
    • Install a new spindle nut and torque to 134 ft. lbs. (181 Nm), and once tightened, stake the nut.
    • Tighten the wheel nuts to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).

How do you replace the rear strut on a 1985 Nissan 300zx?


To remove the shock u raise the car and support semi-trailing arm. Disconnect shock upper and lower end but an remove the absorber. U install it in reverse but the final tightening of the nuts should be when the car on the ground and the tires touching the ground. I installed a new wiper motor. I ran it before installing the wiper arms. it will not stop at zero. it over travels down into the cowling. I try to rest them higher then they stop some where in the middle...


Try to run the motor without the wiper arms tightened down and turn it off so it can cycle down to its rest state. Then install the wiper arms.

Make sure, that the car's windshield wiper wiring is correct for this motor.

Wiper Arm & Blade Removal & Installation Front To Remove:
CAUTION
When the wipers are parked (off), the driver’s wiper arm must be above the passenger’s wiper arm.
  1. Remove the clip holding the outside end of the wiper arm cover to the arm.
  2. Lift the arm cap up to expose the nut.
  3. Remove the wiper arm mounting nut.
  4. Using a suitable two jaw puller, remove the wiper arm from the wiper pivot.
To Install:
  1. Verify that the wiper motor and linkage are in the parked position.
  2. Place the wiper arm in position over the wiper pivot.
  3. Install the nut to hold the wiper arm to the wiper pivot. Torque nut to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm). CAUTION
    Make sure to tighten the wiper arm nut properly.
  4. Push the arm cap cover down.
  5. Secure the clip holding the cover to the wiper arm.
Rear To Remove:
  1. Lift and hold the wiper arm away from the rear window.
  2. Lift the lock securing the wiper arm to the pivot.
  3. Slowly release the wiper arm so it rests against the lock.
  4. Remove the wiper arm from the pivot.
To Install:
  1. Install the wiper arm on the pivot.
  2. Pull the arm outward and release the lock.
  3. Gently release the wiper arm until it rests on the rear window.

I need to replace my rear sway bar endlink bushings to pass inspection. any directions/assistance?


(Caution ) sway bar end is under pressure.

1.go to AutoZone get new linkage bars or just the bushings depends on wether the bar has grooves wore into them from use and new nuts. 2. Raise and safely support vehicle,3. remove tire, 4.using floor jack safely support the lower suspension arm and raise to remove pressure on the linkage bar between swaybar end and lower arm 5. remove the nut under the lower suspension arm that retains the swaybar linkage ,6. loosen and remove nut at swaybar end. 7.at this time only lower the lower suspension arm enough to remove the linkage bar. install new bushings or bar to the swaybar end don't completely tighten nut at this time.8. install new lower bushing then jack the lower suspension arm back up aligning the lower end of the linkage with the hole in the arm once pressure is lifting the swaybar install the lower nut and tighten at this time Torque top nut to35-47 Ft lb and bottom nut 8-10- Ft lb lower the jack from under the lower arm and install tire lower vehicle ready to go Appx 1 Hr per side

While turning left the rear end of the car feels loose?


Has anyone checked lug nuts.Also Focuses were known for breaking strut springs ,chjeck that also.Ford will repair it at little or no cost if its a broken sprin.Cant see it being a trailing arm in the rear,but its possible.Good luck

Hi,
Check all your rear sway bar mount bolts, your trailing arm bushings, the torque arm bolts.Also check the spare and jack those could be loose .

Removal of rear shocks on 1991 pontiac sunbird se


open the trunk remove the trim panel to clear the upper shock mount nut.loosen wheel nuts raise rear of vehicle support on jack stands.support trailing arm.with a jack .remove the shock absorber mounting nut and bolt.then remove the upper two bolts at wheel well above the coil spring.do one wheel at a time becauses it will damage brake lines if you remove both shocks. besure to block the front wheels to keep car from moving.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Spring Rear
Removal
  1. Position a hoist under the rear axle housing, and raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 00-02 . Place jackstands under frame side rails.
  1. Remove rear stabilizer bar as outlined.
  1. Disconnect the lower studs of the two shock absorbers from the mounting brackets on the rear axle assembly .
  1. Unsnap the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit (2A635) from RH upper arm retainer before lowering the rear axle assembly .
  1. Lower the hoist and axle housing until the rear springs are released.
  1. Remove rear spring and rear spring center mounting insulators (5741) from vehicle.

Shock Absorber Removal
Raise the vehicle on a hoist. 1. To assist in removing the upper attachment on shock absorbers using a plastic dust tube, place an open end wrench on the hex stamped into the dust tube's metal cap. For shock absorbers with a steel dust tube, simply grasp the tube to prevent stud rotation when loosening the retaining nut.
  1. Remove the shock absorber retaining nut, washer, and insulator assembly from the stud on the upper side of the frame. Discard nut. Compress the shock absorber to clear the hole in the frame, and remove the inner insulator and washer from the upper retaining stud.
  2. Remove the self-locking retaining nut, and disconnect the shock absorber lower stud from the mounting bracket on the rear axle tube.
  3. Perform Shock Absorber Checks. Refer to Section 04-00 to determine shock absorbers performance.
Installation
  1. Properly prime the new shock absorber . Refer to Section 04-00 , Shock Absorber Checks.
  1. Place the inner washer and rear spring insulator (5536) on the upper retaining stud, and position the shock absorber so that the upper retaining stud enters the hole in the frame. While holding the shock absorber in this position, install a new rear spring insulator , washer and nut assembly on the upper side of the upper frame. Be sure to seat the rear spring insulator in the frame attaching hole. Tighten nut to 34-46 Nm (25-34 lb-ft).
  1. Extend the shock absorber , and place the lower stud in the mounting bracket hole on the rear axle assembly housing. Install a new self-locking retaining nut. Tighten nut to 76.5-103.5 Nm (56-76 lb-ft).
  1. Lower vehicle.

Refer to the illustration in Description and Operation. NOTE: To improve rear axle assembly noise and vibration concerns, the rear suspension should be fastened to the frame and rear axle assembly at the curb height position.
NOTE: If one rear suspension lower arm requires replacement, also replace the opposite rear suspension lower arm .

  1. Mark rear suspension shock absorber relative to protective sleeve with the vehicle in a static, level ground condition.
  1. Remove rear stabilizer bar as outlined.
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist, and place jackstands under the rear axle assembly . Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Lower the hoist until the shock absorbers are fully extended to relieve rear spring pressure.
  1. Support rear axle assembly under differential pinion nose as well as under rear axle assembly .
  1. Remove and discard the lower arm pivot bolt and nut from the axle bracket. Then, disengage the rear suspension lower arm from the bracket.
  1. Remove and discard the pivot bolt and nut from the frame bracket, and remove the rear suspension lower arm .

  1. Raise the vehicle, and support the frame side rails with jackstands. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  2. Support the rear axle assembly .
  3. Lower the rear axle assembly , and support the rear axle assembly under differential pinion nose as well as under rear axle assembly .
  4. Unsnap parking brake rear cable and conduit from upper arm retainer.
  5. Remove and discard the nut and bolt retaining the rear suspension arm and bushing to the rear axle assembly housing. Disconnect the rear suspension arm and bushing from the housing.
  6. Remove and discard the nut and bolt that secures the rear suspension arm and bushing to the frame bracket, and remove the rear suspension arm and bushing . If upper arm rear bushing is to be replaced, use Suspension Bushing Service Set T79P-5638-A and Rear Axle Control Arm Bushing Tools T86P-5638-AH and the following procedure:
  7. Place the upper arm rear bushing remover tool in position, and pull bushing out. Using Suspension Bushing Service Set T79P-5638-A install bushing assembly into bushing ear of rear axle assembly.

How to disconnect the handbrake cable from the trailing arm


There are tie clamps at the rear, but the entire cable is a complicated repair.

Parking Brake Cable Removal
All vehicles
  1. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 .
  1. Release the parking brake.
  1. NOTE: Leave 5 mm of thread protruding from the nut, to aid with installation.
    Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut.
    1. Remove the retaining clip.
    1. Loosen the adjustment nut.
  1. Remove the rear wheels and tires. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .

    Detach the tailpipe and muffler assembly.

  5. Detach the exhaust rear heat shield from the floor panel.
