Question about 2004 Volvo V40 Wagon

V40 window not working

You replied to the post re: window not working and suggested trying another switch on that window. But, the driver's door has the multiswitch to control all windows, so another door's switch wouldn't fit, would it?

tried that, doesn't work. I now know there is power when I try to use that switch. And it moved a bit yesterday while I was playing with it. Then it stopped, almost as if it's blocked going up...I'd be grateful for any ideas!

sad too say but there is no manual way . this is why you see plastic and duck tape on windows . many times it is a broken wire where it flexes from the frame to the door

2001 volvo v40 won't start. No crank at all. Red LED on left of dashboard flashes rapidly for 15 seconds, then goes out.

It's your built in security alarm , have you changed the battery lately ? The procedure to reset it is: Unlock drivers door with key, then use key fob in unlock door mode, put key in ignition switch, foot on brake , transmission in park or neutral and clutch depressed (If applicable )

Volvo v40 dtc srs 017c central locking faulty signal. Any idea where to start.

Weird one - have you tried resetting the error and seeing if it comes back? If not, good. Temporary hiccup.
If it comes back, maybe source a used/no error SRS module and swap out with yours and see what happens. The codes are recorded in the SRS module so a good one will have no codes.

Alternatively, it might be corrosion in one of the wiring looms - if you can trace out the wires (and ohm them out) going through the door to the car, the problem might be in there too.

The SRS module is allegedly easy to swap with four bolts and 20 minutes to spare. Depending on how cheap they are to get, that could be worth a shot.
Good luck, and please post a comment if/when you find a solution to help others. :)

Drivers side window will not go up

i say window switch, especially one used as frequently as driver's. Remove door panel and check with meter or substitute one of the other switches to check operation. If that doesn't work, get back to me with a reply and we'll try a few more diagnostics...MK

Volvo v40 (estate) same as s40 1997 2 litre

This sounds to me like you may have a bad master switch. Everything with the windows goes back to the master switch before it will work.

My 95 oldsmobile cutlass supreme's power windows have quit working, i tried changing the fuse and this did not work, any suggestions?

Take a test light and check for power at main switch in drivers door, as well as check /wiggle wires in loom that run between door post and door at hinge area, while pushing button, as that is always a place where wires get worn, cracked, broken from door opening & closing so much.

Power window problem

On my girlfriend's Civic, the same problem cropped up and it was the driver's door switch assembly. The power for all the windows is routed to the driver's door switches, and from there, out to the other doors (that's how the window lock on the driver's door is able to shut off the window power in the back doors). If your driver's door switch assembly has failed, you'd have no power to the windows, regardless of which switches you're trying to use. I'd suggest going to a salvage yard and finding a new driver's door switch assembly and swapping it into your car and see if that fixes it. It shouldn't run you more than $15 or so, and they're generally pretty easy to swap out - figure a few basic tools and maybe a half hour or 45 minutes of your time.
