Deepend on wich style wheel bearing you have, im guessing with it being a 99 its a unti bearing, there fairly easy to replace. thought im not familer with your car. a hayse or chiltons manual will walk you through it. you can get them specifically for your vehicle at most parts stores or on amozon . com

My guess is the original shim that came with the factory bearing and hub assembly was discarded and never installed on the new bearing (That does not come with a shim) causing the new bearing to fail.

I have a similar problem with my kia sedona 2003. The kia dealer told me to have the disc pads replaced. I brought it to a brake pads bonding shop cause its cheaper to replace there. But the thinnest pad are still half thick. The real problem was on the back plate, it's touching on the brake disc making the sound and scratching it. Just push the back plate away from the disc to solve the problem. If I have known this I could have used those disc pads for a few more months.
