Question about 1990 Volkswagen Golf

I have a 1990 vw cab auto 1.8 MK1 and the acelerator is sticking. There are 2 cables so what can I do to find out if one is needing replacement or both? Can I replace them with other vw branded cables? Passat etc...? How much am I up for? Thanks alot... Kel

Have you tried removing the cable and spraying wd-40 into them. mine was getting hard to depress so i just lubed it up and it worked alot better

My defrost and blower stopped working.


Check your fuses inside the cab of the car. On the inside of the fuse box cover there's a diagram showing which fuse controls the blower. Or in the engine compartment fuse box, check the blower relay.

Instaling auto gauge TACHOMETER 3-3/4 INCH in a vw mk1 as per installation instructions but is not working


Check to make sure you are connected to the proper terminals, and that the wiring has no faults from tach to the terminals.

Probably the starter needs to be replaced. If it was the battery, you would have more problems cold than hot.

Wiring for western plow joystick


My western snow plow will not go up or left or right with joystick. I can use a screw driver and make contact on the silanoid and then move the cables with the joy stick and then it will work. I have relaced selinoid and contacts. any ideas? Stomped

Cannot shift into reverse although forward gears all functional


have ur shift linkage bushings replaced....most likely thse are torn or completely broken .. this is common on these models..also on some vw's of the same years

Problem aceleration


1. chenk the gas pedal see if the screw and the stake behinfd the pedal has problem.
2.check the cable, maybe the angle is not right. you have to check the cable behind the pedal and also the end part which connect to the fuel controler. either fuel injection or carburetor
