Check engine and battery light are supposed to be off when the engine is running,that indicates the vehicle has no codes,and that the charging system and battery are ok.When you turn the key to run,but not start,they should light up for a couple of seconds,just to indicate that they are capable of functioning.

I just purchased 1198 Nissan frontier. I had to replace the battery right away. And after installing a new battery. I turn the key and nothing. No dash lights. No buzzers or clicks. nothing comes on. No...

use a test light and follow the main supply wires going into the cars cab keep poking thru the insulation with the tester probe at regular intervals until you dont get any power. there might be a fusable link or a maxifuse somewhere blown. check fuse panel for pwoer and check the wires to and from the ignition switch.

Seems like the car is staying in "ACC" (accesory key position)

BFC that body function controller. BFC batt fuse controls .the body function controller .its part of the PCM.the BFC controls anti theft system. your interior lights -drl lights- radio -door locks.if your check engine light is on take it to dealership.because your BFC and PCM works together. your car could shut off. that unsafe.when you on a busy have electrical problem.not a home fix.

Have 1989 civic hatchback manual trans. will not start.. lights, dash light, radio all work but engine will not crank over and car will not start. did have this happen before but engine did crank over....

Based on your post, dash instrumentation lits up but will not crank, probable areas to check would be:
  • starting solenoid;
  • starter motor;
  • ignition switch;
  • alarm/security/immobilizer (if any).
Some thoughts on the above:
  • If it were the starting solenoid, you will not hear a strong click/clank in the engine area;
  • If there is a a strong click/clank in the engine area then it could be the starter motor or the high current switch (inside the solenoid);
  • You could verify the state of the ignition switch with the use of a voltmeter or simply hot wiring/jumping the wires;
  • Depending on the type of alarm, most would have a "Panic Button" or reset of some sort. Pls try to check.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
