Where does the elctric air pump hose go and the two vaccum lines go

The electric air pump has two lines intake air and exhaust air the exhaust air goes to a diverter valve on some models then travels to metal tube and separates to the air check valves on the injection tubes to the exhaust manifolds. the diverter valve has the vacuum line on it which goes to the electric switching valve and then to manifold vacuum.

Air will not come out of a/c vents

Your controls are vacuum operated. Make sure that there is vacuum present...if not find the disconnect. Or, the vacuum "motor" that controls air direction has failed or is stuck.

Suddenlt our vehicle driver side only blows cold air and the pasenger and rear vents blow the correct temperature setting.

You have a air box heater box air divert valve stuck you will need to replace it first start by looking under the dash passenger side you will see a round part with some vacuum hoses coming off from them start engine switch your location function switch see if working on divert er vacuum you most likely will have to replace your divert er valve.

I've recently had my A/C recharged but the system still blows hot air. When the A/C is off, the fresh air still blows hot.

make sure the compresser is turning on and off
if not there might be a leak that was missed

2003 Grand Prix not blowing hot air. Does the heater coil need to be replaced? If so where is it located?

If the heater coil was bad, it would be leaking radiator fluid... probably into your dash/floorboard (depending on where it is installed in your model car). There is a switch that diverts the hot radiator fluid through the heater coil when you want heat. There is also an air diverter valve that helps to mix the hot and cold air. The fluid valve is controlled by the A/C settings control. The one that you use to choose between heater/air conditioner/vent/ defrost. The air diverter is controlled by the temp mixing controller. The most simple explanation is that one of those valves or the controller of one of those valves is not working. If the hot water cant be diverted through the heater coil, the coil can't exchange the heat (warming the air). If the air diverter (hot/cold controller) cant move to add heat, then all you will feel is air from the vent side (from outside) or from the A/C cooling the air.

I would guess that its either a controller or one of the valves themselves. Odds are, it is a controller. That tends to be what malfunctions first.

Heater blows cold air. Vents work fine. Used the heat, turned the vehicle off and back on and heat no longer worked. Checked coolant and fuses. Turned all dials and nothing worked

Could be that the thermostat stuck in the closed position, which is preventing the coolant from getting to your heater core. Cheap part to replace and a good first step.

A/c is charged but blows hot air

Defective expansion valve? Have you put a full gauge set on and made sure that both high and low side pressures are correct?

Feel the lines as they go into the evaporator. If not cold (after the expansion valve), it's probably the expasion valve. If it is, it could be an air flapper problem. If the air isn't diverted through the evaporator, it will not get chilled. Could be caused by vacuum leak.

1998 328i.. Got a 1421 and 1423 code...not sure where to start...

1997 BMW 328I 2.8L Customer Concern: MIL is on with trouble codes P1421 and P1423, for incorrect secondary airflow on both cylinder banks. Tests/Procedures: 1. Perform a functional test of the Air Injection Reaction (AIR) system. Tee a vacuum gauge into the vacuum hose attached to the diverter valve, located on the cylinder head towards the front of the engine.

2. Allow the vehicle to sit over night. Start the engine (cold) while monitoring the amount of vacuum on the gauge at startup. At temperatures from -10 to 40 degrees Celsius, there should be at least 17 inches of vacuum. At the same time, the AIR pump should run and pump a large volume of air into the exhaust. Potential Causes: A.I.R. Pump
Air Pump Relay
Restricted Cylinder Head
Diverter Valve
Tech Tips: These codes are related to a problem detected in the Secondary Air Injection system. Scan tools with BMW software include a feature to command the AIR pump on and off. The pattern failures for these codes are the AIR pumps due to leaks in the diverter valve and moisture or condensation in the AIR pump.

Possible fix but not all items. Just areas to look at:
Confirmed Fix - A.I.R. Pump - A.I.R. Diverter - A.I.R. Pump, Air Injection Reaction Diverter (AIRD) Valve - Air Injection Reaction Diverter (AIRD) Valve - Check Valve, Secondary Air Pump - Diverter Valve Vacuum Lines

Eng light come on

Eitehr check valves are leaking or diverter valve is diverting air to atmosphere when it should be sending it to the cat., or vise versa. While vehicle is running check for leaks at check valves (listen for hissing). The only time this thing should be sending the atr towards the cat is when the vehicle is crusing. All other time it diversts it to atmosphere(some at exhsust ports).
At idle put you hand over diverter valve you should feel the and hear the fresh air being diverted.
Remove 02 Sensoer screw in a pressure gauge , make sure drive wheels are off the ground or if you can position the gauge somewhere you can safely view it drive the vehicle to crusing speed you should get 3 to 5 psi if the diverter valve is working. use shop manualto confirm testing procedure. Good luck
