first you need to take the dash apart, then you just unhook the wire, unscrew the lighter and will need to remove the wood panel around the gear shift. You should be able to use a screw driver with a piece of cloth around the tip to work around where the plastic wood piece clips into the console area.

Figure 9 - Remove the Cover of Gear Shift on '96

The Wood trim panel will pull away from the gear shifter. It may be useful to insert the screw driver (wrapped by a thin cloth to prevent scratches) between black grommet and the silver portion of the gear shifter assembly. You will want to pull (or pry) in the location like where the fingers are in Figure 9 above for the '96. It takes patience but if can be worked loose.

Figure 11 shows the location of the clips that hold the wood panel in place. Figure 1 also shows how to pull up and the path to pivot (yellow arrow) to remove the wood panel. While this panel is in a '96 Maxima, the technique is the same for the my nissan max 2001 the lighter - 140_rotate_panel.jpgpan>

The cigarette lighter will have a wire connector on it. To remove it (you may not have to disconnect the lighter), you must push in the tab on the connector (it's where the thumb or pointing finger is in Figure 13) that keeps the connector locked in place. With the tab properly pushed in, the connector will slide off.

here are some instructions that may help. good luck and dont forget to hit the accept link and rate.

Power source for new backup camera

You need to check that the power plug has power when the key is off. It should have a plug just for telephones and accesories that is 12 volts all the time it may be low on the passenger side of the console almost under the dash.

2000 Nissan Frontier Cigarette lighter not working while I use tire compresser using,

Tire compressor probably draws too much current for the socket. Are you sure it is a cigarette lighter socket? Some sockets are just to provide accessories 12v. Did a cigarette lighter come with this socket? True cigarette lighter sockets are generally fused at 25 or 30 Amps

My cigarette lighter, and display on my factory stereo went out at the same time. Could this be a fuse? If so, where would it be located?

On my old XL7 these features would go out, and the cruise too. The fuse was in the fuse panel, left of your left knee as you drive and was the lowest in the front most rank. Note that fuses go out for a reason, that reason is too much current is passing through them. So unless you fix the bad component, it will continue to blow out. On my XL7 the problem was a bad lighter, suppose the prior owner had kept jambing something in it. Once I replaced the lighter the fuse stayed intact.

What is max current from 12 volt lighter/power sockets on 2005 Chrysler town and country touring

Max current is 20A for the lighter/power sockets. This can be confirmed two ways -- the first is the power sockets typically have the number printed on the plastic outlet cover, the second is to look in the manual for the fuse ratings on this circuit.

Lighters are not working

Hi I am Vortash It sounds like one of your lighter elements has gone short . it happens especially with people lighting cigars the wire elements get pushed together and the insulation between them breaks down when you push them in poof and the fuse blows

Take both out and try them one at a time that will show you the one thats short regards vortash
